[NEWS] 121030 JYJ’s Junsu Receives Male Excellence Award for the Korean Musical Awards

Kim Junsu of JYJ has recently received the Male Excellence Award at the Korean Musical Awards and has been recognized as a top musical actor.

Junsu attended the 18th Annual Korean Musical Awards that were held on October 29 and received the Male Excellence Award. Junsu is the first idol singer to have received this award.

Kim Junsu took on the role of Death in the musical “Elizabeth” and showed exceptional vocal and acting skills, which received a lot of praise.

After Junsu received this award, he shed hot tears. He wasn’t able to speak for a bit due to his emotions but he soon after shared his speech.

He said, “I don’t know if I deserve to receive this big of an award. I am able to receive this award because so many people have supported me. All the fellow actors and staff members that I’ve worked with since my ‘Mozart‘ days, I want to thank you all.”

Kim Junsu gave his thanks to his family, agency and his fellow JYJ members, Park Yoo Chun and Kim Jae Joong. He continued, “Doing a musical is different. Through musicals, I was able to stand on stage again. Through musicals, I was able to sing on stage again. Through musicals, I was invited to this award show and I received this award that I never thought I’d receive.”

Other than the Male Excellence Award, Junsu has been receiving the Popular Star Award for the past three years.

Meanwhile, Ock Joo Hyun, who worked with Junsu for “Elizabeth” received the Female Excellence Award. Best Supporting Awards went to Kim Ho Young of “La Cage” and Oh So Yeon of “Next To Normal.” The Rookie Awards went to Kai of “The Tale of Two Cities” and Ivy of “Chicago.”
