Demonimational Chruches, Homophobia, and The Rich Vs Poor
(I'm not ever going to attempt to fix all my spelling mistakes. This is not formal and I don't think I should have to. ^.^)
It's wierd the things you can come by when you have to deliver flyers for a church fuction. There's this crazy old man who lives down the road a bit from us. He's not crazy in being mean all the time. However, he thinks that all donomintions of the Christian Chruches are worng...
I don't know if I agree with that...I can see where he is coming from and I admire his courage to strike up this conversation with the daughter of the paster of the local CRC Chruch. He basicly told me that we were all going to hell for being part of a donomination. He went on to tell me that he was telling me the lies of the Denominational Chruches because I was "young and impressionable". All of the things he said were true and from the Bible, but I don't think that it was exactauly right. The man believed that it is our works that would asure us a place in heaven. However, being a part of the Christian Reformed Church I believe that it is justication by faith alone. Some of the things that he said just didn't float in my book.
He also thought that homosexuals were going to hell just because of how they were born. This is also something that I don't believe. In his mind, and as I suspect in the minds of many others, homosexuality is something that a person chooses. I don't think that and he told me that because I believe that God loves homosexuals that I'm less of a Christian. I just can't believe that God would condem a person at birth to hell before they had a chance to change themselves. I'm not ever sure if God hates homosexality. In the Bible there are many passages about it, however none( to my knowledge) of them were intended to be directed at the common people. Many of the people who thoses verses were directed at were leaders of the church who had male prostisutes. However, I am sure that I have missed a few verses and that there are places in the Bible that I have missed on homosexuality. In fact there are more about the poor and rich that about what your sexual oreintaion is.
It's weird that todays socity will not look at what the Bible clearly what people to know more about. America is much more rich then most other countries. Even the lower middle class is much better off then a child in another third world country. I just think that we need to focus on what God talks more about in the Bible then about things that are only mentioned a few times.
