Mmmmmm, this was sensual and lovely. I loved the repetition of word-metaphors here, especially this: The ghosts of letters linger, pressed against his thumb. That and the scent of dying ink, so vivid and somehow just so Sawyer.

I live in the Magnolia State, did you know that? ;)

Thank you :D And I'm a bit jealous of you down in the Magnolia State... I live at something of an extreme opposite to it, and while magnolias aren't necessarily hard to come by, they're certainly not overly common. I just had this particular image from this past spring in my head when I sat down to write this, of one of the few trees nearby, right after it had bloomed, covered in frost because the weather here can never make up its mind ;)

spelling out the words that James can never say because they got lost somewhere along the run, left in a kitchen sink in Alabama, where his mother used to do the dishes.

That was so beautiful!

I absolutely adore this, your use of language and imagery was so perfect, I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed reading it. <3

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked this - I hadn't planned on it turning out at all like it did, so the fact that it ended up being alright regardless makes me very, very happy :)

First I squeed over your lj header (I'm on such a ST high right now), then that completely vanished out of my mind with the fic, then I find you're listening to Rob Thomas (my favourite singer).

All I'm ever going to picture when I listen to that song will be Jack, Sawyer, storms and magnolia trees. I adore lyrical poetic writing, which this is a beautiful example of, and when you couple that with J/S and storms... well I'm seriously a gooey mess! I don't think you need to analyse this, I'm certainly not, because it's amazing. Thank you so much!!

I am so, so glad you enjoyed this - I was a bit iffy as to whether it was what you were looking for, but so long as you liked it, that's all that counts :D And I was also obscenely happy to find that you like Rob Thomas (he is such a genius... LOVE) - because while writing this, I listened to that song on repeat, and I couldn't think up a title for the life of me, except from the lyrics :)

And sidenote: freaking woah, tell me about the ST high! I'm kind of really addicted to Kirk/McCoy. Like... badly. I think maybe because it never, ever worked for me in TOS, and because I love Karl Urban to absolute pieces - he does a PERFECT Bones.

Sorry. I'm done now.

I think I need to friend you, because this squeeing session could go on for eternity!!!! :) I have read so much Kirk/Bones fic lately I'm starting to merge all the stories together into one really, really wonderful universe. And Karl.... just, damn him for making me go out and buy some really odd movies just because he's in them.

I'm trying to take a break from ST for the luau because I find I don't have the time to concentrate on anything else at luau time, but my 'to read' folder is going to be huuuuuuge when this is over!!!

Have you heard Cradlesong yet? I'm keeping fingers crossed that Rob comes over here to tour again.

He has been in some weird stuff, hasn't he?! And I, too, decided it would be a good idea to break from the Trek-fic (reading and writing) for the Luau... but then I realized I have no will power when it comes to really pretty men in space, and on top of all the amazing Kirk/Bones stuff that's consistently being produced to read, I made a questionable judgment call and signed up for the cliche_bingo challenge, in which I am writing something like 25 stories over the next two months, most of which are for Trek. *sigh*

And guh, Cradlesong makes me really happy - it's got an almost... folky-jazzy vibe, or at least, it did to me the first time through, and now that's what I'm associating with it. I missed Matchbox when they toured last year due to scheduling conflicts, so I am also really, really hoping he stops near me for this, and soon.

Ultimately this culminates with the following: I vote yes - let's be friends :D
