I've honestly been sitting here for the better part of an hour trying to figure out a semi-worthwhile response to such an amazing comment. I'll go ahead and start with the obvious - thank you so, so very much; I cannot tell you how happy, not to mention flattered, I am that you enjoyed this so much. I've always loved the character of Richard, perhaps partially because there is so much mystery to feed the imagination surrounding him, but regardless, I've found recently that I really and truly enjoy writing him. Therefore, that you have so enjoyed what I am so enjoying makes me infinitely happy.

More than that, though, I have to thank you for your comments on the Richard/Ben dynamic in particular - I was rather concerned that it came across too vaguely, and I played with it for quite some time, trying to get it to come across as a feasible sort of progression (I really need to find myself a beta for these things, because I can so rarely tell whether things work or not...) But yes; I'm so, so pleased that the characterization of Richard through his relationship(s) with Ben came through for you. Perhaps it's my inner romantic (or my inner angst-seeker), but I really do think that the emotional side of Richard, which we see so few and such fleeting glimpses of, would be something very profound, very melancholy - tentative, and yet ultimately something very raw, because his situation is so unique, both condemning him to this perpetual cycle abandonment whilst sustaining him to continue to hope even in the face of certain disappointment and loss. I aimed to scratch just the barest surface of that idea, and hopefully do it a shred of justice - but really, your enthusiasm for what has come of it completely and utterly floors me. I really and truly cannot thank you enough (which, ultimately, was the point of that ramble; which itself ended up being extremely long - wow. Sorry about that. Ignore me.)

And, last but certainly not least, I would be absolutely thrilled to have you friend me. Do you mind if I return the favor?

Your Richard characterization is inspiring. You should feel very proud because he is such a tricky character.

And of course, please friend me back!
