Heat
He's known heat -- tropical and agonizing, suffocating with pressure and fear, the kind that builds in his gut and the kind that pushes in from without, crushing and desperate like the flames of the Abyss, death that will never take, never come, never be; he's known heat, but never this: scorching hot from every side, every end, searing above the hum of the air conditioner, musk above the stench of bleach on the sheets, bright and full against the day where the curtains are pulled, where he'll cover her and cast shadows against her chest with every heave, at least until someone decides to ignore the 'Do Not Disturb' sign hung outside the door.
