I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream.

5.

When you think about it, it was inevitable. No more Cold War. No more secrets you keep from everyone but yourself, operations you answer to no one but yourself. Then one morning you wake up and find out that the President of the United States is running the country without your permission, the son of a bitch. How dare he? You realize it's over, you're an obsolete peice of hardware not worth upgrading, you've got a lousy marriage and sixty-two grand a year.

6.

A: Do you think we were right?

God is listening? What a crock of shit.

A: Well I guess you can't argue with tradition.

9.

A: You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Well I suppose you do, since you already know what I'm about to say.
B: I do. But I like to hear you say it.
A: Love. You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her home.
B: Storm's getting worse.
A: We'll pass through it soon enough.

10.

A: You're not going to let me in there, are you? You've got your armor back on. That's that.
B: I have no armor left. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me - whatever is left of me - whatever I am - I'm yours.
