~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: NONE, really. She was able to basically walk around as a ghost while she was in a coma, but her sister couldn't see her, and everyone eventually forgot about her and stopped seeing her. And Tomoya eventually becomes a FUUKO MASTER and she pops up a few more times after her ghost has been disappeared for good, but...
Again, no one remembers that. Not even Fuuko.
How would they use their abilities?: Wouldn't. They were only because of her strong wish to make her sister happy while she was in a coma, and she's taken from after she woke up.
Appearance: Fuuko looks... Really young. She's 24, but looks more like...... 12. She's really short, and is ALSO really immature, so it's easy to mistake her for a child. Fuuko has long, dark brown hair, and golden eyes. She keeps her hair tied in the lower back with a big ribbon, and tends to wear loose fitting clothes.
Background/Personality: We hear that before the series started, Fuuko was very antisocial. She tended to just ignore her classmates or be terse with them, prefering to spend time with her older sister.
On the way to her first day of high school, Fuuko was hit by a car, and fell in to a coma. As of the start of the series, she's been asleep for two years, and is rumored to be a ghost that wanders the school. Though, to students, she just looks like an ordinary girl, so it's not as if they know it's her - just that there's a ghost somewhere.
Tomoya finds her carving starfishes out of wood, with bandaged hands and a broken knife. He takes the knife from her after teasing her a bit, but she retrieves it, and through this interaction, makes friends with Tomoya, Nagisa, and Sunohara.
They figure out relatively quickly that she's a ghost, and because she has no where to be but school, Nagisa's family takes her in. Unlike Tomoya, who just teases her all the time, Nagisa's family goes along with her weird ideas enthusiastically, and help her carve more wooden starfish to hand out at school. They're supposed to be invitations to her older sister's wedding, which said sister is putting off because she feels too guilty to get married happily when her sister is in a coma. But Fuuko wants her to!!
So Nagisa and Tomoya help her hand out carvings and help try to convince Fuuko's sister to go ahead and get married. They also arrange for Fuuko's sister to secretly meet Fuuko at the school festival. But when she does, like Fuuko told them, her sister can't see or hear her.
Nagisa and Tomoya also set up a fun 'school day' for her, since she's never really experienced student-life and has always wanted to. She fell into the coma before school started, and presumably isn't on any rosters. They use their friends to come be students and Nagisa's mother plays the teacher.
After this, people around the school start to forget Fuuko. They stop seeing her. Eventually it even gets to Nagisa's family, who are both on edge, knowing they forgot something important.
And then Nagisa and Tomoya forget her, too. Not for long - they quickly remember with some help from the principal.
One night, after a fun outing together, they stay over night at the school, where Fuuko forces them to get on a first name basis with each other. In the morning, Fuuko's sister gets married at the school, surrounded by everyone Fuuko invited. Fuuko tells Tomoya and Nagisa how much fun she had, and manages to appear to her sister long enough to congratulate her.
THEN SHE DISAPPEARS AND EVERYONE FORGETS SHE WAS EVER THERE the end. (Aside from a few brief scenes where she pops in claiming to be able to solve everything, isn't useful at all, and runs away.)
FIVE YEARS LATER she is out of her coma!! Tomoya, out with the child he had with Nagisa before Nagisa died, meets Fuuko's older sister, and they are introduced for the 'first' time. Fuuko quickly claims the daughter, Ushio, as her new little sister/best friend, and comes over for play-dates.
That's about where I'm taking her from because after that Ushio dies and there's a reset where she apparently still becomes friends with Ushio and Nagisa lives and everyone lives and blah blah blah but I prefer this route, so.
ANYWAY PERSONALITY!!!!
From what we hear and see about her when she was younger, Fuuko was a quiet kid. But when she's around a ghost and when she's awake at 24, she's loud and immature. She talks in third person, flails around, shouts and screams and yells in extremes of whatever emotion she's feeling, and tells blatant lies.
She's not particularly bright, either. She's very very gullible, and easily pranked. She also sticks to whatever bizarre ideas she gets in her mind and will hold them to the grave. For example, she's CONVINCED that she, being a mature lady, must remind Tomoya of his late wife.
She tends to just be completely stuck in her own mindset, and doesn't understand when other people are confused by it. From Fuuko, saying she likes Tomoya more than sea-slugs is a compliment, because she's rather fond of sea-slugs!
On that topic, Fuuko seems to have a strong love of ocean life, but most of all starfish. She absolutely loves starfish. She thinks they are the cutest, bestest thing in the whole world. So when she sees star shaped things she goes into a dreamlike state with star shaped bubbles and sparkles and no awareness of her surroundings... Tomoya is able to squirt juice up her nose, she's so out of it.
For the most part, she's just very childishly self centered and full of herself. She's convinced that she's number one in Japan at pretty much everything, and will brag that the neighbors always used to praise her for being so good at (whatever she's bragging about)!!!!! OKAY, SO SHE'S THE BEST!!!! JUST SO YOU KNOW!!
Because of this, even if she tries to lie, it's very easy to tell. If she wants something, trying to deny it would mean shouting that she doesn't and then staring at it intensely and pouting and whining.
Like I said, Fuuko is self centered, but at the same time, she does prefer that other people are happy. Her whole arc was her trying to get her sister to move on even without her waking up. She's seen smiling at Nagisa and Tomoya a few times from a distance, and seems to get pretty sad when other people are sad on her behalf.
She can be serious, but even when she's serious, she's still... On her own track. For example, she offers to come whenever Tomoya calls for her when she's convinced that he sees his late wife in her. But she also says she just wants to come play with his daughter, so.
For the most part she's just a loud bratty eight year old trapped in a sixteen year old who was trapped in a coma and is now twenty four years old. Or. Something. Hurr.
Also a testament to her immaturity: Her BFF, Ushio, is five years old.
Apparently she memorizes people's scents, too. \(o_O)/
Have you read up on how the game works?: The network is the FlamingFerret and Fuuko could mooch like a lazy ass, steal, or work on missions and jobs and stuff! She will work very hard!!! ... Maybe.
1st person sample:
Fuuko doesn't understand at all! Why does Fuuko have to fill out all these forms?! Everyone should be able to look at Fuuko and just see right away that she is a human being from Earth, and that is all they should need to know! In fact, that's a lot of information with all of the alien things running around!
Fuuko is disappointed. Fuuko saw a movie once, where the aliens looked kind of like giant starfish. But these aliens just look like... Blobs! And bugs! And other humans!
Fuuko is most confused by the humans. If Fuuko's planet was destroyed, but everyone has been here longer than Fuuko, they clearly aren't from Earth. So why do you look like humans?! That's copyright infringement! Fuuko will sue!
... Fuuko doesn't really know how to sue. But Fuuko is still upset, and would like you to know that!!
Furthermore, Fuuko would like to sue whoever is in charge of the paperwork! Fuuko was given a child's forms and had to argue with an alien for twenty minutes to get the adult forms!
... Fuuko would also like to sue whoever destroyed her world, but doesn't know who to blame.
3rd person sample:
For as much whining as she had done, and for as publicly as it had been, Fuuko stopped causing a fuss when she was done with her broadcast. Instead, for the next couple of hours, she ran around the ship. She easily wove between the crowds, ducking into any small space that may or may not have been a shortcut. Not that she was headed anywhere in particular.
She was half looking for her sister, half exploring the ship. She already felt her sister wasn't there. No Ushio, no Tomoya. No one from her world.
It was still worth looking - just in case. Fuuko had said she would come running if they needed her, so she had to at least look.
Fuuko stopped mid-step, causing several people to bump into her, some too tall to even see her and all the more confused for it. But she had an epiphany. The world had been destroyed by Tomoya. He had put on the tights! She gasped at the revelation, looking horrified by her own imagination. She didn't pay any mind to the people who now walks around her carefully, most giving her odd looks as she shook her head.
She resumed searching the ship, this time walking at a more regular pace.
