Honestly I have no idea where to begin. Since I last wrote a ton has happened, probably the most important things for you to know to understand this are that I am now the Media Relations Director for the NAFL, the Sports Editor at Sidelines, lead singer in myspace.com/greyhoundsuitcase, and still very short.
Well, I'm fond of lists and a bit sick of writing (you'll soon see why), so how 'bout a list?
1. I worked around around 50 hours in 4 days on the paper (including 25 hours in the first two days), just finishing about forty minutes ago. This will be my first Sports Page as sports editor and i'm really proud of it. We (me and my new assitant editor) did a massive, hilarious, in-depth season long preview of the Blue Raiders. For the preview we took a great picture of me and him arguing while we look through old editions of sidelines. It's gonna be weird to know that well over 20,000 people will see my face in the paper tomorrow. I purposefully chose one that isn't very flattering, i'm a masochist what can I say?
2. The new Assistant Editor is really great and I'm looking forward to working with him. He has a radio show and knows everything there is to know about MT sports, luckily I know more about writing (I better I'm 5 years older than everyone else in the office) so we're trading off. the best part is we'll be arguing about most of our stories on the radio every saturday morning at 10. Don't worry late risers, there will be podcasts as well.
3. I'm trying to repair my friendship with Angela after finally getting definitive proof that she had been cheating on me while we were engaged. I'm not worried on my end because I'm too busy and too happy to pine over someone who already made her decision. She's with Chris now, he's a good guy and I wish them luck. I was hurt for a while but I mean... it's not that complicated. When someone says it's over 500 times you eventually need to get that into your head. If your local lake dried up, wouldn't it be kind of foolish to try to launch your bass boat there like you used to?
4. I'm also very excited to say that i'm "seeing" someone special and she's pretty much amazing.
We're both editors, writers, photographers, and artists. Also she's a total nerd, so ofcourse I think she's t3h h4w7n355 (pretty). I'm still not sure if it's fortunately or unfortunately, but she does live in D.C. which means we won't see each other much but with our schedules it's almost nice to have an excuse to just focus on our professional lives and look forward to our mini-vacations.
5. I'm not engaged, that rumor is completely unfounded. I did "buy" someone a ring on facebook, but thats all i can say about that.
6. My hair is fucking long.
7. i missed out on ska weekend, which would have involved seeing Angela and proving we can be friends and still have fun. I'm pretty bummed that I missed the slackers, but of the 30 something bands that were there I've seen all of them before, drank with half of them, and lived with one for four years on and off. I have no idea when I will be able to get back up to Knoxville so I guess that friendship is on hold.
8. I've been strangely happy to be so busy, I had no idea I had it in me but I have been pining for some purpose and direction.
9. The NAFL job is still going great.
10. School starts tomorrow.
