It's getting close to Christmas. I'll be older soon, too. Does...would anyone like to spend Christmas together? It seems like a time to be with people. Just wondering.

You have a big family dinner, and decorate a tree, and there's presents! It's wonderful.

Why do you decorate a tree? And wouldn't that be hard? Trees are pretty tall.

I dunno why exactly, but you cut down a pretty one, and bring it inside the house and everyone decorates it. The tallest people put the ornaments on the top.

Wouldn't that kill the tree? Who wants a dead tree in their house?

Mm, yeah, you have to throw it out after Christmas. Some people have fake trees. Or sometimes they decorate live trees outside.

Fake trees? [This sounds like total crazy talk to him.]

Yeah, like little pine trees, and they come apart and go into storage for the rest of the year.

But why would people get fake trees when there's plenty of real ones around? This doesn't make any sense.

So they don't have to cut one down every year. It's nice to the trees and it costs less.

Okay...but what do you decorate them with?

Christmas balls, and tinsel, and popcorn.

Uh...[He has no clue what any of that is.] Huh? That doesn't sound like any decorations I've ever heard of.
