Seimei promised he'd take me to a festival this summer. Just him and me. And then he was going to bring me to stay with him for a bit. Mum wouldn't have liked that too much.
I really want to leave this place. It just gets worse the longer we're here.

My brother...really hated my English father, and hated my British living style. I think I was over paranoid of him 95% of the time, but he did beat up one other Mexican guy, and tried to...attack me twice [*cough* during the revolution and 1812 *cough*], and sometimes him and his friends would make a lot of meaningless noise about beating me up back then. But yeah, he is much, much stronger than me. If he ever tried to really hurt me, he'd be able to do it in no time.
Oh...but like I said, now we are on better terms!

But...he had his goons cut your cat ears off? O-Oh my god...owww...that must really hurt... [Matthew suddenly drew his hands up to his head. During The Great War he'd gotten one of his ears shot off by a stray bullet; that had hurt a lot too, and he only got his ear back several months later.]
I-I'm sorry. Your not kidding; that guy really is a gigantic douchebag-eerrr I mean...jerk! Yeah jerk. *cough* B-But...somebody like that...really shouldn't exist here. This is tough enough as it is...somebody whose going to go around causing problems like that...they need to be dealt with.
[Shortly after Matthew announced that, a polar bear cub stuck it's head infront of the PDA] "....Who are you?" [Correction, a talking polar bear cub.]

[Ritsuka blinks] Is that a-- um...I'm Aoyagi Ritsuka, who are you?

...Huh? [Matthew titled his head in confusion, not really understanding what Ritsuka said. And then it dawned on him. And a look of pure horror crossed over his face as he covered his mouth.] O-Oh...you mean...? Ohmygod, I'm so sorry. That's...
[Matthew's normally bright violet eyes seemed to have darkened alot in an instant.] I...don't have any clear cut ideas on how to deal with him, but...it needs to be done. I-I'll...[his head suddenly jerked up, as though afew ideas had come to mind.] D-Don't worry at all!
[The Polar bear quirked its head to the side] Ao...yagi...Ritsuka. I'm me. Who is he? [The polar bear suddenly pointed towards Matthew, who seemed to twitch in frustration]

[He looked away briefly, rubbing at the back of his neck] Mm...Yeah...so I don't...he scares me.
Please don't do something that will put you in danger.
[He smiled softly at the bear, head tilting curiously.] Isn't he your friend? You're the one with him. You should know.

[The bear blinked in confusion] "I don't know. He's always there. Following me. Don't know his name."
[Matthew sighed, as though he had heard this conversations 100s, if not 1000s of times now.] My name is CA-NA-er...my name is Matthew Williams!
[So...Kumajirou just effectively ruined his hopes of appearing as a totally normal human being. Well, considering what else he was seeing here, having a talking polar bear really wouldn't be seen as that big of a deal.]
S-Sorry, I've...had this polar bear for most of my life now. I just...met him one day, and he hasn't left me alone.
"You won't leave me alone."

Do all polar bears talk in your world? I've only seen one at the zoo once.

Oh...y-yeah I do have two names! Um...alot of my foreign friends have nicknamed me as "Canada", but most others just call me Matthew Williams! What is your second name?
Uhhhhh....n-not really. This one is kind of odd. I-I know a few others who have gotten...very intelligent pets as well though. But in my world, we don't have magic or super powers or anything like that. All the humans here are totally normal.
"Kumajirou. He won't remember my name. He won't feed me." [The polar turned his head to the side. Somehow the polar bear cub just made his face become much cuter.] "Do you have food?"

It's nice to meet you Kumajirou. [He smiled, giving a small nod.] Yeah, some. But I don't know what polar bears eat.

[Matthew sighed in the background] Kumakashi will eat just about anything; ketchup chips, popcorn, coffee, cookies, maple syrup; I've tried to keep him on a diet of just fish, but...it doesn't go so well. He's very determined.

We don't have too much here, nothing like from the store, mostly apples, and things we can find until we can get to the city.

Oh, Komuja has been eating the dried salmon I brought with me, and also catching fish from the river nearby. [Why yes, Matthew did just obliviously get his polar bears name wrong again.] He's really good at it! I've been eating some of the fish he's got too.

I-I'm very good at sneaking around. People...usually don't notice me. So, I'll go to the city to get some better food for you, if you want!

Kom- [he laughs] Which is it? You keep saying his name different. The two of you are strange. Ca he really catch fish? I was trying to learn, but I wasn't very good at it.

Soubi goes sometimes, but...are you sure? They don't want us in the city, and it's really dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt.

Hm? What are you talking about? His names Kolojoshi! But yeah, polar bears have an amazing sense of smell, so he can easily smell the location of fish. He'll just sit at the sides of the river, or sometimes go diving, and before you know it he's caught a ton of fish!
"See? Whats-his-name can't remember my name."

"Who?"
I-I'm going to ignore you now, Kolukami.

A-Actually on my first day here...I accidentally walked right into Credinta. They didn't even notice I existed. [Matthew's eyebrow seemed to twitch; as though he found that as more insulting than being very, very lucky.] In political meetings I have problems with them doing headcounts and missing me, or...the large Russian representative sitting on me without noticing I was there, or my American brother Alfred thinking I was him, or my English dad not seeing me when we're having tea together and wondering where I am, or-[Matthew seemed to become even more aggravated by the word]
Er-overall, don't worry! I'm very good at this! [And it would be this skill that he used for dealing with The Joker, if he followed the plan forming in his mind.]

R-Right, that's what I said! His name is Kumajirou! See, Kumakoja, I got your name right! [Matthew and Kumajirou had lived with each other for 500 years, and neither of them could figure out the others name. It was, overall, a very very odd relationship. They were so attached and close to one another that they lost the need or ability to know each others name.]
"....Tell Ritsuka to give me food."
N-No! Not unless he wants to.

Oh, they're not intentionally picking on me! I just...for some reason people don't notice me that much. I'm actually making more friends here than at home for this very reason. People seem to be noticing me a bit more here.
