Delayed Thoughts

Thoughts from the last time I almost posted:

Well, I'm definitly enjoying the Olympics so far. I came down to LA to celebrate my grandmother-in-laws 92nd birthday. Which is special in its own right. However, it also means I got to watch the opening ceremonies in a group of people which was a lot of fun...there may have been a little too much wine involved. I'm not saying.

We as a group of multigenerational women though Vancover was much less scary then Beijing. One of the girls I wached with Sarah (a good childhood friend of Chris's) spent a semester in Vancover as an exchange student so she really enjoyed the opening ceremonies.

New Thoughts:

The whole Olympics were very interesting. Chris was not as into it as I was so I didn't get to watch all of what I wanted. Like I missed the mens long program. I do not like Evan Lysacek at all. He seems smarmy. I think he and the Russian are both busy trying to act badass to come off as charming. I think it's a real shame about Johnny Weir. I first saw him skate at the exhibition of the US skaters going to the Olympics and I enjoyed it very much. Fur aside I enjoy his skating very much and do not enjoy seeing any athlete personally attacked. However, I do agree that the average fan of ice skating does not understand the scoring system and so he really may be missing something about the technical aspects of his skating. Being prone to research things I like I did some research-he's got connections to my favorite childhood ice skaters-Victor Plushenko who is his assistant coach.

I enjoyed watching Mirai Nagasu of the US skate as well as Kim Yu Na. I feel like Mirai did not get enough credit in the US as compared to Rachel Flatts who I've not been impressed by.

Snowboading and Snowboard Cross was also really fun. I did not get to Shaun White's gold medal run, but hopefully at some point YouTube will have it.

And now it is the end of the Olympics. I look forward to seeing the closing ceremony in a few minutes.

I should also add before I forget. Apollo!!!! You still rock. Thanks for being charming.

I will not miss NBC and their coverage though. So inane and stupid sometimes.

I don't know what else to go on about. Maybe I'll think of more later.
