Is there any kind of law enforcement around here? I know nothing's permanent, but it might be a good idea.

[There. Short and sweet. If he's wrong, he'll be happy to be corrected. If not? Well. He just might need to find some people who can help him do something about it. His last run-in with that bigass dragon had him thinking about stuff like ( Read more... )

Haven't heard about anything like that, but it couldn't hurt.

No, it couldn't. But I think most people are set on taking care of things themselves.

Maybe, but then you're in trouble the minute you could actually use an honest cop. [However many of those exist.] Seems to me like it'd be useful.

I'm glad you think so. You wouldn't believe how many goddamn stubborn people are responding to this.

[His patience is running a little thin. Take a deep breath, HB. Things will get sorted out.]

Sorry. I've never been cut out for this kind of thing.

I'm not surprised--this place is full of 'goddamn stubborn people,' far as I can tell. Kinda surprised you're getting push-back on this idea, though. You'd think people'd want a decent police force...provided it was decent, anyway.

[Pause. Introductions'd probably be a good idea.]

I'm Kay.

[Kay? The Kay?]

You don't happen to be a friend of Mildmay, do you?

[Well, uh. That wasn't the answer she was expecting.]

...You could say that. Who wants to know?

I'm Hellboy. Mildmay and I were working together on Jack Sparrow's boat not too long ago. Gave me a sample of your cooking.

[Siiiiiiiigh. Every time she thinks she's done talking about cooking...]

Well, nice to meet you, uh, Hellboy. [Poor guy--who the hell named him that?] Good to know that food went to a good home.

It did. Glad I got a chance to thank you for it.

Yeah, well, you're welcome. But don't expect any more of it--I've already got Jack pestering me for sandwiches. [Okay, just that one time. She hopes. It's only going to be once, right?]

Hey, I know better. I already told them not to bother you about it. But if you know Jack, you know he's crazy.

[Read: You have to be crazy to demand things like that from a woman. Hellboy's been trained well by the women in his life, thank you very much.]

Yeah, I'd noticed. I didn't know you were helping him out with that boat business, too. [She approves of your attitude, Hellboy. Much better than Captain Sparrow's.] How's that going?

[He probably shouldn't mention he was the one who broke the boat in the first place.]

Finished, far as I know. I haven't talked to Jack since he disappeared. Though I've heard he's back now.

[Eh, Kay can't really find it in herself to be too heartsick over Jack's possessions.]

Yeah, he came back. Last I saw, he looked like he'd bathed in a pigsty.

[He just hates it when people perceive him as some kind of living wrecking ball. Not that they'd be too far off.]

Great. Yeah. He sounded like he was having fun. [To put it lightly.]
