All dressed up, no place to go

Well I've been checking LJ and seeing what my friends have updated, but I realized that I haven't written anything since pre-graduation.  So much has happened since then.  Nothing terribly amazing or exciting, mostly mundane stuff, but a lot of changes.  So this summer, I spent six weeks doing an ACP summer certification program.  I took 24 credit hours in a 6 week program, and took all of my exams.  I still have one classroom observation until I have my teaching license, but once I've done that observation, I'll have 4 areas of certification.  I'll have Elementary Education K-6, Exceptional Student Education K-12, Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum (English, Social Science, Math and Science for 5-9th graders), and English 6-12.
I'm now living in Gainesville with my parents.  It's not what I was expecting just out of college, but you know, it's not been bad.  I'm living rent free, and my parents and I are generally getting along.  I spent my first few weeks back in town basically miserable without a job.  I was bored out of my head and not doing anything.  It was really boring and awful.  August 24th, school started.  I'm certified as a sub, and I'm trying to work full time.  The first week, I worked 5 days.  Over the next two weeks after that, it was only 4 days total.  This current two weeks, I've worked Weds, Thurs, Fri, and I'll be working Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs next week, along with Friday if any schools call me.

The subbing is hard.  I like it a lot, but the fact is that it's basically like the first day of school every day, and every period.  I'm getting better at it, and I'm starting to like it more, but it's harder than I expected.  It just takes a few days to really establish a rapport and authority in a classroom, so I never have the chance to do that.

The plan is still to move up to Arkansas as soon as we have enough money saved up.  At this rate, I might be living in Florida until I turn 30, but the real plan is to move up there in January.  I'm hoping it happens at that speed, but who knows.  Either way, Stephen and I are doing really well and we can wait a few extra months if necessary.

I hope you are all doing well!! I haven't seen any of you in ages, so let me know how you're doing.
