One of my friends, teaotter (and her partners), is owned by a cat, Buddy. They've been going through some difficulties in the past year or so, and now Buddy's thyroid problems are becoming worse. The best treatment for him is a kind of radiation, which unfortunately is rather expensive - over $1,000.
They have created a community, nuke_our_cat, as a central place to do auctions to raise money for the radiation. All items and services to be auctioned are donated by friends and loved ones, with all proceeds going straight for treatment. Straight donations are also welcomed.
