useless love songs
I feel amazing. I feel loved. I feel... happy :) Today marks three months with my amazing Nicolai.
While I'm aware of the fact that Valentine's Day is a stupid made-up holiday, I think that its perhaps similar to Christmas (which is also a pretty fabricated holiday when you get right down to it) in the way that its sort of a way of saying, "Okay, slow down for a minute and appreciate the love in your life. Take some time out of your schedule to dedicate to each other." Unfortunetly, it rarely translates into that. It ends up becoming just another rat race to "prove" your devotion to someone by spending money you don't have on useless junk that's either going to get eaten or die. Its that aspect of the holiday that is useless and stupid.
Personally, my stupid holiday was great :) We talked for a bit about going out to eat (I mostly wanted to go out to avoid having to see or deal with any member of either of our families), but couldn't pick a restaraunt we both liked and could afford so instead he cooked me a fantastic dinner. After dinner we spent the rest of the evening alone at his mom's house making chocolate covered strawberries and watching HGTV and talking about our dream houses.
It was quiet, it was simple, it was amazing. :D
