Tonight, Nazareth College had its annual Take Back the Night vigil where we speak out about abuse, violence, rape, and all manner of nasty.  I have participated in this event for the past for years because I am a survivor of physical abuse.  A boyfriend I had back in high school physically abused me.  During the testimonial portion of the vigil, I received a text message from a friend.  The message informed me that the guy who abused me was being locked away for life due to abusing and almost killing his current girlfriend.  The physical and emotional bruises he left have almost faded completely, but once and a while they show up.

I'm just glad he can't hurt anyone else any more.
