I've decided for 2007 that I'm going to keep track of the sheer number of books I read throughout the year. So, let's start with the first two I've finished so far!
The first book I finished this year was
"The Boleyn Inheritance" by Philippa Gregory. I've read many of the other books she's written, including
"The Other Boleyn Girl" and
"The Queen's Fool", so I was pretty excited to see this book out on the shelves. Like some of the other books she's written, this story deals with Tudor England, and the many wives of King Henry VIII. The story was much longer than I expected, and the multiple voices of the story made it a bit tough to follow what was going on when, but I still really enjoyed it. Historical fiction is definitely something I enjoy, so I devoured this book, much like I did the rest of the stories I've read by the same author.
The other book I just finished last night was
"Lamb: The Gospel according to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore. I know the title seems a bit weird, but the story is excellent, and so funny. Levi, who is called Biff, meets Jesus when Jesus and his younger brother were sitting at a well. Jesus had a lizard in his mouth. He'd take the lizard out, give it to his brother, who would beat the lizard to death with a rock. Jesus would then put the lizard back into his mouth, bring it back to life, and then hand it back to his brother to start the whole cycle again. The whole book is crazy like this! There were parts of the story where I honestly laughed out loud, and I don't do that much with books. If you're looking for a book to pick up, this is definitely one you should look for. It can be a bit hard to find, but so worth it when you do :)
