seventy-eight. [Third Generation.]

Linda-Lee is always unsure when they say visitors are coming. She likes her Aunties and her Uncles just fine [her favourite is the one who brings presents and kisses Papa on the doorstep], but she’s afraid it’s going to be the Grandparents. Nanaji is fluttery pink pantsuits and silver bangles and lipsticky kisses on Linda-Lee’s cheeks. Opa always keeps her at arms length and tells her that she turned out pretty, surprising for those genes. They are Mumma’s parents. Papa doesn’t have any parents but he says she’d have liked them, promises to tell her all about them when she’s older.
