apple muffins and books

It looks quite surreal, I must say. I mean, I'd never been the kind of girl who is really interested in cooking and has some gift or genuine skill at doing it, but I'm #foreveralone on these vacations and I do think that improve my cooking skills is a nice thing to do with all the spare time I have right now. These ones featured in the pictures are apple muffins I did yesterday. I chose this recipe 'cause it's really simple and I thought it could be fine with my mom - since she's on a diet to lose weight and everything. They tasted fine - not nearly superb or amazing, of course -, but I think they were a bit greasy(?)... Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to buy the ingredients to bake some chocolate cookies :)

Now, books. I borrowed some books from the city's library about a week a go. I'd finished reading "Bookends", written by Jane Green. I really liked it. I thought it would be a conventional chick-lit book, but it was quite a good surprise. Also, I noticed I enjoy much more reading a book when it's characters are in their 30s... The other books I've got are "Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook", by Bukowski and "The Good of the Small Things", by Arundhati Roy. I'd just started on the Bukowsky one, but I have to say that it isn't what I expected... I'd only read "South of no North" before, but it seems to be completely different.

Also, I bought Gossip Girl 8 and 9 (I'm late on the series, I know) and One Day. I'm saving them for when my time in the library is over, but I'm really looking forward to read them *.*
