Summary: A little drabble about Zoro, Luffy and shooting stars.

Luffy was all curled up, nested against Zoro’s side where they lay together on the soft grass of the deck. Luffy’s eyes kept dropping closed as Zoro’s warm body, the cool grass and the cold breeze all mixed together on his skin to the perfect temperature. He liked how Zoro’s breath sounded in his chest, and the steady ba-badup of his beating heart.

They were on watch together, but in the middle of a calm ocean on the best-built ship in the world, the only thing there was to watch were the stars.

One went streaking across the sky before disappearing over the horizon. A smile broke across Luffy’s face and his eyes lit up. He nudged Zoro. “Did you see that?” He asked in an excited whisper.

“Yeah” Zoro responded with a nod. The only reason he wasn’t asleep was because he wanted to be able to remember what a sleepy, dozing Luffy was like. The arm around his captain hugged the rubber boy tightly. “Did you make a wish?” Zoro asked, glancing down.

“Oh no! Is it too late?!” Luffy sat up sharply in alarm, Zoro chuckled deep in his chest and pulled Luffy back down, closer.

“No, go ahead and make it anyway” Zoro told him, watching Luffy screw his eyes shut as he thought up his wish and made it with all his heart. If it was anyone else, Zoro would think it was a stupid child’s game… but when it was Luffy, he had to believe that Luffy’s wishes came true.

“Hey, Zoro” Luffy said, resting his head on Zoro’s shoulder. “Guess what I wished for” he giggled. Zoro rolled his eyes. “Come on, guess!”

“If I guess and you tell me I’m right, your wish won’t come true” Zoro told Luffy, pushing the straw hat over Luffy’s face. The boy giggled more and pushed it back.

“If you get it right I know you’ll wanna make it come true~” Luffy teased, his voice raising just a little bit so he could sing the end.

“I’m not breaking into the kitchen and stealing you meat”

“That’s not it! Try again!” Luffy’s eyes sparkled as he watched Zoro’s face carefully. The captain was grinning though his poker face as Zoro tried to image what else besides food Luffy would have wished for.

“Adventure?”

“Hm, that’s a good one, but that’s not it. It’s something I want to happen right now” Luffy added.

“I give up, what is it?” Zoro shrugged in defeat. Luffy rolled up and pulled himself closer to Zoro, his hat falling back in the process.

“I wished for at least one more kiss before we fell asleep” Luffy told his swordsman, their faces just a couple of inches apart. “You’ll make my wish come true, right?” He asked, chewing on the bottom of his lip as Zoro reached up to gently ruffle the hair on the back of Luffy’s head.

Quietly, he bent down and kissed Luffy softly on the lips.

Maybe his captain would never know how far Zoro would go to make Luffy’s wishes come true, but he would do anything for that boy.

Settling back down against each other’s warmth, they fell asleep as the ship sailed on to new islands and adventures.
