Ah, so I wasn't the only person confused a bit by the spellings at first.

Somewhere along the way, one of the many battles was played differently and changed the course of history for them to my understanding. From what I've been told by Mr. Gottwald at an earlier time, the American War of Independence apparently was a failure in their world.

Except based in North America... They apparently lost Britain to Napoleon.
