RL with Bella
It was times like these he wished he wasn't what he was. If he had been normal, he never would have gotten the stupid idea in his head he could somehow save Rue. All this time he kept up hope that she would get hurt and he could convince a world hopper to send him there. He could have taken her to La Push where she would always been safe and well taken care of. No cruel games or forced smiles. Jacob had waited patiently. When he saw she was hurt, the hope did not die. He was dead convinced if he could just sneak her out while in his wolf form...
There would be someone on the community who could make that hole in her gut disappear. It did not have to be the end for her.
But she had not survived that blow. She was already dead by the time Jacob found it. For all his power in this form, he could not do a single thing for her. The anger and hurt from that knowledge was enough to keep him stuck as a wolf for a good while.
Eventually Jacob tires of running in circles trying to force himself to return to his human form and stay that way. There was only one place he could think to go now that the rage and grief were nearly run out of him.
