I ended up saying no, but it certainly gave me pause. And, you know, maybe if my lifestyle wasn’t so transient at the moment, maybe if I had a partner, maybe a lot of things. And for two days, I thought hard on it. I’m still not even sure that it’s my final decision. But at least for now, I said no.
Yes, I could raise a child, but the current circumstances are… well, I’m just not sure if I could have this kid tagging around with me on this seemingly never ending journey that I’m on - roads that traverse both this country and my ever wandering mind. Trying to find myself while trying to find him an elementary school or a McDonalds or something. I forget to eat, I often skip sleep, but you can’t do that same shit with a kid. And it’s true that he might actually shape me into a better, more collected, less scattered person. He could possibly ground me. But that’s not what parenting is supposed to be about.
So yeah, I could. I just don’t think it would be fair.
