MORE IN DEPTH
NOTABLE SKILLS: He has two Shugo Charas, which are basically representations of his 'would be self', or the person he wants to be. These chara's came from Nagi's soul, but have their own physical entity, so here they aren't with him. Anyway, chara's are only a few inches tall, and can float/fly at will anywhere they like, and only people with chara's can see them, regardless of age - though, anyone under the age of six seems to be able to see them without question, shugo chara or not.
With his two characters, Rhythm and Temari, he can perform firstly, a chara-change with them (basically, his personality changes depending on his shugo chara for a short burst of time), for Temari, due to him being a girl at the time, he become aggressive, more boy-like, and very competitive. With Rhythm, his personality becomes more relaxed, flirtatious, and spontaneous, going at his own pace. To indicate a character change, with Temari he gained a Nadeshiko-shaped-flower-clip in his hair, and with Rhythm, he gains a pair of headphones.
Secondly, he can also perform a character transformation with them - basically the magical girl equivalent of changing into the hero's gear with special abilities. With Temari he becomes Yamato Maihime, where he wears a kimono and has dance based attacks, and with Rhythm he comes Beat Jumper, who attacks with basketball related attacks.
As he is very level-headed and spent a lot of time without being able to fight, Nagihiko is a strong tactician when it comes to either fighting, or just splitting up a task to get it done. His accuracy and thinking usually make a lot of people trust him and do as he says no matter what their opinion of him.
From his background of being brought up in the art of Japanese Dance, Nagihiko is a near master of Japanese Dance specifically - and when it comes to dancing, he is nothing but professional and elegant - in short, he's a talented dancer.
He is, er, also very good at acting like a girl. And extremely convincing.
BACKGROUND: As a child, Nagihiko was brought up to appreciate and partake in the art of Japanese dance, living in a traditional Japanese house. Further on, to keep with Fujisaki tradition in regards to playing feminine roles in dance (Fujisaki males are trained to become "oyama" (male actors who plays female parts in kabuki)), he was also brought up as a girl, being dubbed "Nadeshiko". As can be imagined, the young Nagihiko had to confirm to being a 'perfect' girl - as he remarked whilst in gym class, he couldn't jump as high as he could, he couldn't play to the best of his ability - he had to fit in, and look like a girl, so he had to limit what he could do. This always bothered him, and on the occasion of sneaking out as a boy, he would always play basketball to the best of his ability. But, he still wanted to be the best he could at dancing, so he stayed true to pretending to be a girl.
As he went to Seiyo Elementary, still disguised as Nadeshiko, his Shugo Chara!, his 'would be self', was born - Temari. Temari represents his love for dancing, and being a perfect serene dancer - but also, when character changing, shows his almost repressed boy-ish nature and competative streak. Regardless, as an owner of a Shugo Chara! Nadeshiko became part of the Guardians as the Queen's Chair, a group sworn to protect the school, though in reality protect the Heart's Eggs of kids by purifying X-Eggs. Before entering fifth grade, then-Nadeshiko met Amu Hinamori, a girl who would soon become his best friend and also him bribing her into joining the Guardians, as she had three Shugo Chara!'s. Nagihiko succeeded and the two became fast friends. However, before entering sixth grade, Nagihiko decided to leave the country to go to Europe to study dancing, leaving the rest of the Guardians and his best friend behind. Before he left, however, he appeared to Amu as his true self, a boy, claiming he was Nadeshiko's twin, before leaving.
Nagihiko then spent six months in Europe training and studying dancing. However, whilst in Europe, Nagi became depressed and down-heartened when he sees how little he knows, and starts to doubt himself and his abilities, ultimately resulting in him having a block with dancing, and, Temari returning to her egg, until he rediscovers himself. Whilst Temari is gone and Nagihiko is free to live as a boy in Europe, he starts to reconsider all the boyish sides of his nature he's never had to show before - and consequently, a new egg (containing Rhythm) appears, as another part of his self.
As the trip to Europe goes nowhere, Nagihiko decides to return to Japan and his friends - though this time, he comes back not as a girl, but actually as Nagihiko. Tadase Hotori and Kukai Souma are the ones to find out his secret - and when Amu sees him, she persuades him to re-join the Guardians, this time as the Jack Chair, and he continues to live under the guise of being 'Nadeshiko's twin' to the rest of the Guardians, as he doesn't want to hurt Amu by her finding out that she was actually a he. At this point, the rest of the Guardians are all able to fight, so Nagihiko takes on a more of an advising, tactical role, and proves his worth by being able to judge events adequately and be useful, despite not being able to fight at the time. Upon his re-arrival, he also develops a friendly rivalry with Rima, Amu's new friend - on Rima's side, she's suspicious of Nagihiko and jealous at the friendship he has with Amu, so Nagihiko, after attempts of being nice to her, slowly starts to 'bite back', so to speak, by showing her up at every opportunity, though he continues to protect her and everyone else when it comes to fighting, and she slowly begins to accommodate him.
After a while, Nagihiko begins to confront how he feels about being able to do what he wants, when he wants, and Rhythm hatches as the result - defeating a set of X-Eggs with ease, with his new character transformation, Beat Jumper. Afterwards, Rhythm shows his true nature - by being easygoing, flirtatious, going at his own pace, but also having a desire to throw Nagihiko into every club imaginable, as he thinks Nagihiko should do as he wants. Despite this, Nagihiko appreciates Rhythm's efforts, even though he can't at first believe that Rhythm is a representation of how he could be.
As the group reach their climatic fight with the Easter company, Rima, the new Queen's chair of the Guardians, guesses Nagihiko's secret and why he hasn't told - that he is Nadeshiko, and he doesn't want to hurt Amu. Whilst fighting a set of enemies on the tower, he remembers how much he loves dancing, and realizes that gender doesn't matter and is irrelevant; it's the effort they put into what they do.
PERSONALITY: Nagihiko is usually calm, and above all, level-headed. He's prone to over-thinking things or just thinking them through adequately before acting - he rarely does things on impulse. This makes him strong when it comes to tactics, but sometimes can cause him to think through things too much. It is rare for him to let loose and just enjoy what's going on around him. For his age, he is also very mature, so seems much older than he actually is; he can condone childish behaviour, but he won't be seen acting childish.
Usually he is quiet, but not silent - he doesn't talk unless he has some point to make, or a point that he can share. It's extremely rare for him to raise his voice, as usually he'll keep his thoughts to himself rather than voice them aloud. This also usually applies if something immature, or weird occurs with everyone around him. He tends to be the one who remains collected and tends to be more confused than anything else. It's unlikely he'll loose his temper (since he doesn't seem to even have one); even if does get irritated, he's more likely to act against it in a more subtle way with a smile still on his face. One such thing that irritates him is being reminded of having worn a skirt for so long.
He can get sad easily, he just tends to look out of it. He's very reliant, and is often the one doing most of the organizational work when it came to the Guardian's at his school. As far as trust goes, he is also very trustworthy and honest; though honesty is sometimes foiled as when it comes to his friends, he can't bear the idea of seeing them sad or unhappy, so when Amu found him, he didn't tell her he was actually Nadeshiko, but claimed he was 'her twin brother', which later stuck with all the rest of the Guardians (save for Kukai and Tadase, who actually already knew).
When he gets to be true to himself, Nagi tends to also open up more and be more optimistic and happy generally.
As can be imagined from being brought up as a girl, he has issues regarding his gender and what he can, and can't, do. This includes the idea of being able to play sports to the best of his ability - when he was younger, he couldn't, since he had to act like a girl and not appear too strong. Likewise, dancing is very feministic, so now living as a guy also presents issues since he feels it's not a guy-ish thing to do. However, since the birth of both Rhythm and Temari, one representing him wanting to do things as his own pace and the other his love for Japanese Dance, he is slowly overcoming this troubles - though they are likely to resurface occasionally.
From all the keeping secrets over the years, Nagihiko is also prone to bottling up how he's feeling unless he's with someone he really trusts, and even then won't give the whole story. He tends to deal with his own problems. As he has spent a long period of time without Temari due to him not believing of himself, and Rhythm not coming out of his egg for a long time, Nagihiko is very protective of his chara's - being without them will probably make him sad for a period of time, again like he's failing them, and worry about them since he's only just been re-acquainted with them.
When he chara-changes (basically, his personality changes depending on his shugo chara for a short burst of time), for Temari, due to him being a girl at the time, he become more aggressive and boy-like, and had a very, very competitive streak. With Rhythm, his personality becomes more relaxed, flirtatious, and spontaneous - such as running round each club at school and making Nagihiko take part without his consent. Rhythm also tends to go at his own pace, which is reflected when Nagihiko chara-change's with him.
APPEARANCE: Blue/purple hair all the way to bottom of back, amber eyes. Not short, but not exactly tall for his age. Picture reference is
here, in his school uniform (he's stylish out of it, though). Also for the sake of things have a picture of
Nadeshiko.
