Wow, what an amazing gig. It's been too long since I went to one... Far out. The first support act was great, this tiny pint sized Irish lad with a beautiful voice. Must endevour to find out his name and buy his CD. Second one wasn't too much my taste, though they were still pretty good. Their drummer was nuts! Hair and arms everywhere, it was incredible to watch. That guy has stamina, wow. Then the band themselves... Just amazing. Really. I was right in front of their bassist who was very cute and had the goofiest smile ever. And that's how the lead singer was too, goofy! His movements were so child-like and emotion filled. Every song was injected with great emotion and fun. It really looked like they were having a great time doing what they do best. And they do it very well! All my favourite's were given a new dimension, and I suddenly felt as though I understood them better, as I could relate to them and their author. Gary also had a good laugh with the audience at one point getting the guys to sing then saying with a hilarious look on his face "that was very disturbing, I think I'm in love with you all, I'm going to have to call my girlfriend up and tell her it's all over because I'm in love with all the men of Canberra!" He also got carried away with a lion metaphore about how the crowd needed to roar to their guest trumpeter "lions have to make love and be intimate too, it's not all about that scary shit, so think of it like that kind of roar, I don't want you to make love to him, because that would be fucking disturbing, but give a roar like you're trying to seduce a lioness..." And when some guy was yelling stuff out "I'm the one with the miscrophone, you might as well listen to me". Between songs he kept cracking us up it was great. He kept dedicating songs to random things too which was funny eg: the kangaroo, us brave bastards who live in Australia with all the poisonous animals, the guy in the Led Zepplin (spelling?) shirt. Actually he told that guy they were getting back together he said "you may think I don't know stuff, but I do, you think, that guy he's wearing a pink stripey T-shirt, he doesn't know who Led Zepplin are, but I do. They're getting back together, and I'm going to join them! ...Though it will be a cold day in hell before they let me..." And the mark of a trully great gig: it inspired me. I don't know if anyone else feels the same, but when I see a great gig, I want to get up on stage myself and start singing. I also want to start writing about things which haven't been coming easily... So I did, one complete and one incomplete written in my car while waiting for the traffic to thin somewhat.
SONG:
CHORUS:
You don't deserve this kind of life
You don't deserve to believe
That you are nothing without me
You are amazing without me
And that's why I loved you
And that's why I still do
Lat your head down
On the softness of my chest
Feel the warmth of my quick heart
I wish we could leave
And not feel hurt
CHORUS
You're so quick to disbelieve me
When I don't make sense to you
But I'm not a liar, especially to you
Please belive that, please, please, please
I beg, beg, beg you to believe me
I feel like this cursed blessing
Is in every stroke of my blueprint
CHORUS
I want to be that angel of love
Sent to give love to you
But I want that angel
To be me too
SCRAP:
My blood is pressing so strongly against me
Each beat makes my hands shake and I tremble
As I breathe in adrenalin
And your scent down to my knees
Which want to buckle into you
I want to buckle into you
