for two hours we sat watching the new dawn fade in through rusty tin can binoculars
the sky a wash in the vagabond heat of nature's decay
"kiss me," she said; the words dripped from her lips (the words "kiss me" dripped from your lips)
and we sank, two forgotten fossils into earthen tar
fading out beneath the sky and the horizon
these were simpler times
it was easier. easier to laugh.
easier to smile and forget our earthy worries and our bodies
nothing to hold us downno, nothing then could hold us down
