Snoooooooow
It kept snowing all day yesterday (wind and snow and miserable, miserable conditions for walking to the cafeteria). Many people decided to forgo dinner but I, having slept through lunch, decided ramen was n't good enough and took a chance at foraging for something decent. There was what turned out to be vegetarian lasagna, which was, for the most part, edible. The edges of it all were rather crisp, but if you only ate the innards, it was fine.
Then, around 10, the snow started thunking on the windows. Now, maybe not everyone knows this, but snow does not thunk. We decided it was hail. There were a few people outside, and I thought maybe stepping out for a moment would be the best way to determine what exactly was assaulting us this time. Well, I made it to the door... The swirling wall of snow with other, harder looking things mixed into was a little frightening and I simply went back to the room.
Then we had a thunderstorm. Through the snow. It was very pretty; the lightning would flash and the snow would light up in the air. But then the snow stopped and the rain started. By the time I went to bed, everything had stopped and they were plowing the sidewalk again.
This morning, my roommate woke me up to tell me there were no classes until noon. Yay for lack of math! My geology class started at 11 and went until 12:15, so I figured that was canceled completely, too. When I checked my school mail, there was a note from the teacher telling us that, since he lives way away and only teaches one class and one lab on the days he's in, he wasn't going to bother, so lab was canceled, too.
Nor'easters sure are cool.
In FFXI, there's a Valentine's - oh, excuse me, Valentione's - Day event. Every character receives a special crystal in their delivery box courtesy of the moogles. When you use it to synth an item (it can't be stackable or consumable), if you are successful, your name is signed on the item. I made Saito a pair of Vagabond's Hose! Me and my level 5 clothcraft... oh, yes.... But he is happy, because now his pants go with his top and headgear. (Saito has been reduced to mule status, and, as such, only has very old armor or special events gear. So, scale leggings and a male Yukata and a Santa/Dream Hat and... I don't remember what he wears on his feet. But now he has green pants that I made.)
