Seventeenth Hex-[Voice/Action]

[After about two and a half weeks, Draco's finally worked up enough nerve to go back to "his" lake. If anybody were to drop in and visit, they'd find him on his hands and knees, staring out into the water. He has his journal open like he was going to contact someone, but it seems as though he's second-guessing himself ( Read more... )

maybe there's a giant squid?, eighteen's a good age, no this isn't the black lake, getting over lake fears

[Well that was cryptic. But in a way kind of not. After all... sixth year kind of sucked for everyone. So there's a certain bushy-haired blonde going out to the lake 'cause she just has a feeling he's there. Terri's tagging along this time.]

Draco?

[At least Hermione sort of got it. Either way, he seems to feel both Hermione and Terri's presence first before even seeing either of them out of the corner of his eye, seeing how he's still keeping his focus on the lake. Giant squid...show yourself!]

Hi. [Well, it's a start.]

[And he's staring into the lake. Wtf. She kneels down next to him, Terri between them, and peers into the water.]

Something there?

[Stilllll watching, though his hand slowly creeps over to more or less pet Terri on the head.]

...Granger, have you heard anything about people experiencing hallucinations lately?

[Terri's so leaning into that kthnx. Hermione glances at Malfoy and then frowns at the lake.] People have been saying they keep seeing things, but I haven't yet. Why do you ask?

[Terri, why so cut--no. Needy otter, Draco doesn't think you're cute at all! Still, he's watching the lake.] Because I could have sworn I saw the giant squid earlier today.

[terri doesn't believe you, Draco. Not at all. Brb moving closer.] The giant squid?

[And now Hermione's looking at Draco incredulously.] And what use would the Malnosso have for that?

[Pesky little Patronus! But alright, fine, more pettings.]

Hell if I know, to confuse us even further? That's why I asked if you knew about the hallucinations.

[Hey, no worse than yours >( ]

Odd. [She frowns into the lake again. She believes you, though, so wtf.] I don't see anything now.

[Brb bringing out her wand to cast a spell to tell her if there's anything down there BECAUSE HERMIONE CAN DO ANYTHING.] There's nothing out of the ordinary there...

[Padfoot the derptronus is a special case...very...special >>;]

I know. I've come to accept I just imagined the whole thing, but I don't feel like going home yet anyway. So I'm settling for waiting to see if I can prove myself wrong.

[Yes, well, case and point.]

[Hermione finally just sits down at the edge of the water with her knees drawn up to her chin.] Sometimes I miss it, what we used to have. The peace and quiet, no Horcruxes, no worries or not as many at least. Now, even if we did go back, we'd all have a lot to do, a lot to worry with. You and I wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation.

[Wtf why do these two get on depressing topics so easily?]

[He winces a little at that. Seriously, they're good at depressing themselves, aren't they?] I used to think that seventh year, all I'd have to worry about was passing my N.E.W.T.s and kicking Potter's arse in Quidditch. Being scared for my life and blindly fighting through a war wasn't exactly on the list. Take me back to second year, and I think I'd be satisfied.

...no, I take that back. Take me back to the lifestyle of second year, but let me keep everything I've learned here.

[They really are. Terri's still leaning into Draco's hand. Pets please.] It would be nice if that was all we had to worry about. Being friends with Harry has taught me that it's never so simple. [But she wouldn't have it any other way.] If we could just... change the way things are back at home, defeat Voldemort, and keep what we've learned here, I think we could have a very nice homecoming. What do you think?

[Too bad that probably won't happen. Not soon at least. She glances a him.]

[Oh alright, you're as demanding as your caster is. Petting the otter, that's all.] Being his rival for most of our school years has taught me the same thing. [He sighs a little though.] Luceti's taught me that wishful thinking doesn't get me far enough. It'd have to take rewriting history for everything to work out. You know, get rid of blood purity and all. You and I both know it won't happen, just like you and I both know that this can't continue when we get back.

Granted, if anyone could change history and the way people think, it'd probably be Potter.

[Yep! always always. Terri leaaaaans in.]

It might. With Harry around, with all of us working together for it, we could do it. I plan to enter the Ministry when I finish Hogwarts. There's so much that needs to be rewritten. Laws on house-elves, Hippogriffs, any number of things. I know that won't stop the way people think entirely, but it's a good start.

[Silly Terri. Draco sighs loudly though because urgh, house-elves and Hippogriffs.]

If you really believe that, I can't stop you from thinking it. It'd be a good start if you could actually influence people, but keep in mind that a lot of the old Wizarding families are incredibly stubborn and set in their ways.
