This isn't the time to go running scared.
Is it possible to actually join forces, or is this just another ploy I'm falling into?
...maybe my father was wrong after all.

I'd say it all depends on why each is important. Honor only means something if you value it. Moving on can be another phrase for running away. Reconciling? Depends if it's needed.

And how do you know if it's needed?

It's situational. If something needs to happen to, even temporarily, bridge connections to get the job done? You do it. Otherwise there's no point in forcing something. That gets you shoved out of the ship and stranded on the ice planet.

The ice planet? So in the case of the first scenario, is it more beneficial to cut the ties as soon as the job's done, or to keep them?

Depends, kid. You need these ties to last a long while or is it just a temporary need?

Just long enough to survive here because once we find a way to go home, the ties will fall apart on their own.

If it's going to keep the peace? Then I'd say do it. It'll make your life a hell of a lot easier. No idea if it'll make their life easier, that's for them to decide.

You wanted proof to the answers, right?

The 'making life easier' is up for debate for both parties.

Yes. Do you have proof?

Isn't the point of reconciling to, oh I don't know, make some sort improvement on living conditions?

I snuck on board the ship that I was eventually given command of. The Acting Captain became emotionally compromised and we ended up fighting. He actually kicked my ass off the ship and left me stranded. Long story short, I got back, we fought again, and then relinquished command to me. But we still had to come to an understanding to get the job done. Just took him longer to realize it.

In most cases. Consider this one to be rather...special. And honestly, if the Gryffindors and Loony weren't so obnoxious...

Exactly how long did it take you to reach a point of understanding?

When he realized I was going to break the rules no matter what he said. So about a few hours after the big fight.

Special. Got it.

Sounds about like the imagined outcome of what would happen here. Why would he trust you with the ship?

Doubt me?

I was next in line on the command chain, and he couldn't make calls that were best for all of us at the time.

Nope. Making a note.

So that makes you what, a Captain?
