[He knew it would only be a matter of time before it happened again, but he wasn't expecting it to be so soon. This time, it didn't really hurt, though it did cause him to raise an eyebrow ( Read more... )

Huh. What's the proposition?

The proposition is that a few acquaintances and myself will assist those who display certain promising traits in magical fields. Should we deem a student worthy, we shall be taking them into our organization and teaching them to strengthen their skills. [Actually, that's what he would be doing. He's still working on trying to convince said acquaintances to go along with this.]

You could've just said that in the first place, you know. But regardless, I'll pass on joining any organizations.

[A bit of a pause.]

Hmn... but how about an exchange instead?

An exchange. [Huh. Well...he can't think of anything he'd really want that this girl could provide, but he'll be nice and humor her. A bit.]

What sort of exchange do you have in mind?

To put it simply, an exchange of notes. I've been looking into technologies other worlds can provide, as well as other forms of magic. If you can give me some data or explanations of how magic works where you're from or any unique technologies, then I'll give you information concerning my own world and some of the information I've gathered from others' as well.

...fair. Only if you share yours first, of course. A brief summary to see if it's something I'd be interested in learning more about, if you will.

Fine. I can deliver the data I have whenever. How long will it take you to compile the information you have?

Rita Mordio, by the way.

I'm Draco Malfoy.

It depends on how much you actually wish to obtain. The history of our magic and our devices might take me a whole month to write up. A brief summary I can do rather quickly, however.

Hmn... okay then. For now, let's switch summaries. If we both like what we see, then we can switch for more information later.

Fair. What is your preferred delivery method for this data exchange?

In person. I'm busy at the moment, but this shouldn't take more than another half hour. Meet at the fountains in an hour. Besides, that should give you enough time to write out that summary, right?

More than enough. I'll meet you there in an hour.

[An hour later she'll be walking up toward the fountains. Luckily there aren't many people around. So she'll just wait, arms crossed and foot tapping, until someone comes and confronts her.]

[And shortly after he'll be approaching, using the process of elimination to rule out who exactly he's meeting.]

Rita, I presume? [In his hand is a folded piece of parchment, but he won't be handing it over just yet.]

[She'll glance up, her mind seemingly elsewhere for a short moment.]

Yeah.

[She'll size him up for a moment and then give a small shrug. Taking out a small notebook from a pocket, she'll hold it out to him.]

Here's the summary of technologies and magic I promised, as well as some of the more simplistic spells. Most of my data, focuses on magic and technology concerning mana and various amounts on electricity, there's also some of the less common methods. Also, many of the spells are in forms of formulas consisting of variables. They're pretty easy to decipher once you pick up the pattern, but I've put in a further explanation if you have any trouble.

[He'll be quick to snatch that notebook, thumbing through it briefly to see if it's anything he's familiar with.] It appears as though you provided more detail than necessary. Your cooperation's appreciated.

[And with that he'll hand over the parchment.] This is a summary of the history of our magic. It's hard to be brief, but I'm sure you'll find it rather easy enough to follow. It merely consists of the magical theory, dates important to our history, and data focused on wands and spellwork. That should be satisfactory, shouldn't it?
