A Quasi-Hang-Over =.=;

Jan 05, 2006 10:22

I've been told... if one sleeps too much, basically you feel like you've got a hang-over once you wake up. Well, I guess it makes sense... I have a headache the size of the century at the moment and no working, functioning gears inside my head -.-; I can't think straight and I'm having the utmost, hardest time breathing. I'm drinking lots of water... I'm forcing myself to eat something, but I still feel awfully icky. I went to bed around the same time every night and woke around 5:50ish this morning, which is great since that preps me for school in the next few days, but I decided to go back to sleep since I couldn't figure out what I could do at 5:50 in the morning -.-;;; (There were lots of options open to me... and I couldn't think of any of them...) so I end up waking up at 9:30... yuck. I just wasted over 3 hours of time in bed and I feel crappy -.-; Nothing is worse than realizing that one wasted that much time sleeping T___T. 6-7 hours is pretty good, I think. If only I'd gotten up around 7 then life would be really peachy, but 9:30... ... ... ... Am I the only person in the world who hates over-sleeping?

Oh got this meme from babysyusuke since it's kind of interesting ^^.

Top Ten Reasons I'm Glad I'm Chinese

(01) Chinese is one of the hardest languages to master -- or so people say -- and I'm glad I can at least speak one component of it. I'm glad that I can speak Cantonese, which is considered as one of the more difficult dialects in China and due to this... probably lost the vote for official language in China by one back in the olden days.

(02) I can watch a number of Chinese movies & dramas without English subtitles, because I can understand them pretty well -- especially the HK ones -- and I'm understanding Mandarin movies better. I like Chinese subtitles better since I can learn how to read as they speak ^^ (The Ancient China Kung Fu action dramas are the best XD~~~)

(03) Family is First, Always. It gives me motivation to work harder at school and other things that I do so I can help my family. The way my parents always take my brother and I to any vacation and they never go by themselves. The thing that always confuses us is how some moms & dads can just drop off their children at someone else's house and go enjoy themselves together, but that's ok.. that's their lives and this is ours. I just like the strong sense of family and unity over the "Now that you're 18, get out of my house" or the "I'm 18 now and I don't need you to tell me what to do anymore, I'm going to be independent" sort of thing.

(04) Brutal sense of discipline. My father used to beat me if I did something wrong lol ^^; Then again, I really can't imagine children not getting spanked and such in my generation. I had to play piano with a board tied to my back in order to help me straighten out. Also, everything is about studying, studying and more studying. It's tiring and I think... brain-damaging to inflict such pressure on children to study so hard and to strive for such career goals like doctor or lawyer -,-; but it's motivated me to work hard. I think after so many years, my parents have eased up a bit ^,^ Must be that westernized way of thinking that's done some influencing on all of us ^,^

(05) Learning languages like Japanese and Korean should be easier, and I do find learning Japanese not as difficult as some have told me ^^; Maybe I'm lucky. I also like being able to read Japanese & Chinese manga XD~ (Chinese manga is much cheaper than both Japanese & English manga... but I prefer Japanese since it's the original, but I will buy Chinese manga on ocassion).

(06) Chinese fashion is really beautiful *____* I love cheongsam/qipao dresses *__* Shoes are cute too~ Oh! I love Chinese jewelry! I think it's the most beautiful thing in the world! I've decided that some day.. I shall buy the majority of my jewelry in HK/China ^^ and I want a ton of custom-made qipao dresses *___*

(07) Ramen (Lai Mein?) because it really takes skill to make it *____* I want to see the chefs make them *____* I love all pastas~ It just has to be pasta, but I love ramen best XD~ (OH!!!! Chinese-styled spaghetti rocks!!!! *squee!!!*)

(08) Mooncakes!!! You can't go wrong with mooncakes! Wife cakes are yummy too *____* I love Chinese "Western" cakes and pastries~~ *___* Chinese pastries are so yummy~

(09) Herbal soups! Those are the best!!!! Mmm... what am I going to do if I move out of home?!?!?! I don't know anyone my age who can make herbal soups O_O!!!!! I better learn!

(10) Chinese festivals and the RED packets we get at the lunar new year ^,^ (Might I repeat "red" again XD~)

I'm actually proud of being American-Born Chinese. There is absolutely nothing wrong with me and I'm just as normal as an American or a Chinese person. I must admit, I'm a combination of the two and I'm strange, but DEAL WITH IT XD~ Certainly, I do miss out on some things from my ancestry lol ^^ like Chinese delicacies and stuff like that ^,^; but I really don't miss some of the odd habits that my American peers have. For example... I hate camping. Why sleep outdoors when they have a nice bed at home? Why do only take showers every other day -,-;; Why don't they take showers at night before going to bed too? Why do they walk around in the house with their SHOES ON O_O! Why waste water + electricity with the dishwasher machine when dishes can be washed with one's OWN TWO HANDS?! Also... what is so great... about dirt and mud? Dirt + Mud stains clothing and are hard to get out! No playing with mud! WHY THE HELL MUST THEIR PASTRIES AND CAKES BE SO DAMN SWEET?!?!?!?! (Because I like food... so that worries me a lot) Potato chips and soda pop are the root of all evil. Things like that... are part of the American culture that I don't particularly care for -.-; I don't like steak either... OR HAM or SPAM. I hate spam... ew.

Things about the Chinese culture that I don't particularly care for: some Chinese delicacies are so scary... I can't even make myself think of them. I don't like the usage of so much oil in some cooking @_@;;; My system can't handle it -- I'm talking about stuff like duck, the roasted pig, and stuff like that. I don't like that salted fish + pork thing that so many people like to eat. The smell nauseates me -.-;;; I hate shittake mushrooms too... but that's Japanese... though... my parents really are into it. My parents love durian too @_@ (which is filipino) but I hate that stuff... @_@;; ara ara....

I'm a mix of things lol ^^ Can't help it, it's just who I am XD~

I just spent like over an hour and 20 minutes on that meme -,-;;; I should go do something useful. Even my headache's clearing up.
