I went looking in a few of my old drawings and came across this Doctor Who Fan comic I was working on way back in 1997. What's curious is my version of the Doctor.
The idea was this was some Earth colony somewhere in the future and these guys in the land speeders were the local police/paramiliary types.
Basicly, they had lost contact with this outlying colony and they were investigating, not knowing what to expect.
Anyway, the Brunette was a supposed to be something of a loose cannon, and when they detected an unusual life sign in one of the buildings she insists on investigating.
REMEMBER: This was 1997, no new series or even that crappy Fox TV movie. And yet my "new" incarnation of the Doctor bears some similarities to David Tennant's
Maybe not so much in that picture, but this concept sketch I did shows what I was going for.
A youngish man in a striped suit, with messy hair and tennis shoes (and the sonic screwdriver in his vest pocket in that picture!) And I disticntly recall tht one of the themes I was going to use in the story was the idea that the Doctor had become something of a myth in the far future. This mysterious figure that has been on the outskirts of histroy for ages. Very much the same idea they play up in the first episode.
