Chapter One:
Jo Youngmin sat on one of the wooden benches outside of their apartment complex. The only thing running through his mind was what his parents had informed him. He would have to drop out of his private school and go to a public one. He closed his eyes as tears began forming. He didn’t want to transfer schools. He didn’t want to get used to another maze of hallways, another set of people who would undoubtedly look down on him. He had already given up their old home, situated in a better part of town. Now he was expected to take the news of transferring schools like the good kid they claimed him to be? Feeling arms snake around his waist, he opened his eyes.
“Kwangmin,” he murmured, turning and burying his face in his chest. “What are we going to do? I don’t want to transfer schools. We already had to move into this shitty complex! What more do we have to give up?”
Kwangmin patted his brother’s shoulder, trying to comfort him. “Firstly, watch your language. If Mom hears you swearing, she’ll do more than just make you transfer schools. Secondly, what’s so bad about it? Sure, we’ll have to make new friends, but there’s always one thing you seem to forget.”
Youngmin looked up at him, holding tightly to his arms. “What’s that?”
Kwangmin smiled, pecking Youngmin on the forehead. “You have me to help you get through it. We have the same courses and the same schedule. I won’t leave your side for a moment.”
Youngmin smiled, hugging his twin tightly. He knew that Kwangmin would never let him down, not for a moment. He felt the younger ruffle his hair and he looked up. “We should go back inside and get our room set up before Mom gets done with dinner.”
Nodding in agreement, Kwangmin stood, holding his hand out to Youngmin. When the elder took it, he intertwined their fingers and pressed a kiss to the back of his hand. “I’m glad you’re feeling better. Promise me that you’ll come find me next time you’re upset.” He gave the elder a stern look when he received a mere nod. “Promise me.”
Youngmin smiled. “I promise.” He held his free hand up, his pinky held outward as he waited for the other to link them together in order to finalize their promise.
Kwangmin hooked his pinky, linking it with the elder's. “Keep your promise, okay?” Youngmin’s enthusiastic nod made him chuckle. He nodded to their building, signaling that they should go inside.
Youngmin allowed the other to lead him inside, staying quiet until they were in their shared room. He sighed, letting go of Kwangmin’s hand as he started unpacking his clothes. Kwangmin watched him as he worked, feeling sorry for the elder. He watched as Youngmin shoved his clothes into the dresser that had his name on it in bright green letters.
“I don’t want to go to a new school,” Youngmin complained under his breath, slamming the dresser drawer closed. He yelped, cradling his hand against his chest as he glared at the piece of furniture as if it could actually hurt him. “Damn dresser.”
Kwangmin was next to him the instant he had yelped, worry taking over him. “Yah, let me see your hand,” he said, holding out his own. When Youngmin didn’t move, Kwangmin reached over and pried his brother’s hand away from his chest. “Can you move the finger you smashed?”
Youngmin tried moving his left hand, wincing when it caused his fingers to hurt. “I can move them, but they hurt.”
Kwangmin gingerly stretched out Youngmin’s fingers, pressing a kiss to each of them before kissing his palm. “Let me go get you some ice. I’ll finish putting your things away. I’ll ask Mom about dinner, too.” He guided Youngmin to their bed and had him sit. “Stay here, okay?”
Youngmin nodded, cradling his hand again as Kwangmin left. He was glad to have a brother. He’d never fully admit it to anyone, including himself, but he was quite fond of Kwangmin ever since they were little. It was one reason he didn’t want to change schools. Everyone at the other school knew he was weird for liking his brother, his twin even. When their friends found out, they didn’t make a big deal over it nor did they tell Kwangmin about it. What Youngmin didn’t know, was that Kwangmin had the same feeling of fondness for him.
He looked up when Kwangmin reentered the room a few minutes later, carrying a towel with ice in it. He reached out for the towel, but Kwangmin simply took his injured hand and placed the towel against it gently, smiling at how clumsy the elder was. “I could have done it myself,” Youngmin pouted.
Looking up, Kwangmin flashed him a bright smile. “With your clumsiness, you’d have spilled the ice all over the carpet and then slipped on it while trying to clean it up. It’s better if I do it for you.” He noticed that hurt look in Youngmin’s eyes and gave him a quick kiss. “I was only teasing you. Don’t give me that look.”
“When will Mom have dinner ready?” Youngmin asked, changing the subject. He looked up at Kwangmin through his blond bangs, waiting for his answer.
“Not for another ten minutes. Why?”
Youngmin pointed to the door with his free hand. “Close it?” Kwangmin gave him a questioning look, but closed their door anyway. When he got back to the large bed they would have to share, he was pulled into a kiss. He closed his eyes and hugged Youngmin, smiling until the other pulled back.
“You’re the one who started it. Don’t tease me like that.” Kwangmin gave Youngmin another quick kiss, crawling over and leaning against the headboard. He patted the space next to him, Youngmin smiling and going to sit next to him.
He placed his head on Kwangmin’s lap, closing his eyes at feeling the younger's fingers run through his hair. “Kwangmin, what would Mom and Dad do if they ever caught us sharing a kiss?”
Kwangmin thought for a moment before he looked down. “They’d probably drop dead. I don’t think they expect both of us to be gay…and with each other.”
Youngmin coughed at Kwangmin’s bluntness. He sat up, staring at the younger with wide eyes. “When you put it like that, I feel like we’re doing something bad.”
Kwangmin laughed, taking Youngmin’s right hand. “Think about it, Youngmin. Not only does society look down upon homosexuals, but it’s even more against family members dating each other. Mom and Dad don’t need to know, so we’ll never tell them. Once we graduate, we can move out and never have to deal with hiding this part of ourselves from them ever again.”
Youngmin nodded, laying his head back down on his twin’s lap, closing his eyes. “If only we had been born geniuses. We’d be done with school and able to live how we want.”
Kwangmin stared down at the elder, rubbing small circles against his back. “It’s only for another few years. We’ll be able to move out and live how we want. Just make it these last few years with them and we can go wherever we want.”
“People will be against us being together no matter where we go. Our being gay isn’t what’s going to cause us problems. It’s the matter of us being brothers, twins, that they’re going to stone us for.”
“No one is going to stone us. Shun us maybe, but I won’t let them stone you.”
Youngmin smiled up at Kwangmin, taking the younger's hand and holding it over his heart. “That’s one of the reasons I fell for you.” He closed his eyes again and smiled. “You’re always looking out for me. You were born last, but you’d be the one looking after me even if I was the one born lastt.”
Kwangmin nodded, leaning his head back against the headboard. “I’ll always look out for you. I love you, Youngmin, as a brother…” He lowered his voice in case their mom or dad was passing by on the outside of the door. “And as the only person who holds my heart.”
Mrs. Jo knocked on the door. “Boys, dinner is ready. Come on out and eat,” she called through the door, walking away shortly after.
Youngmin sat up, facing Kwangmin and waiting for him to look at him. When he did, Youngmin, placed his hands on either side of his brother’s head, leaning forward and pressing their lips together. He climbed onto Kwangmin’s lap, smiling as he felt arms snake around his waist, pulling him closer. Feeling Kwangmin’s tongue brush against his lower lip, Youngmin opened his mouth, allowing the other to invade him. After a few minutes of their tongues battling for dominance, they both jumped when their door knob twisted, Youngmin pushing away and falling on his back before rolling off the bed and onto the floor.
“Didn’t your mom tell you that dinner is ready? Why haven’t you two come out yet?” Mr. Jo asked, staring at his sons. He looked at Youngmin, who was rubbing his head from where he banged it on the floor when he rolled off the bed. “What were you two doing?”
“We were wrestling,” Kwangmin blurted. He smiled sheepishly at their dad. “You know how boys can be. We were just having some fun.”
Rolling his eyes, Mr. Jo looked at each of them. “Stop horsing around before you hurt each other. Your mom will skin all three of us if you break anything.”
“Okay, Dad. We’ll be out in a minute,” Youngmin said, watching as he left the room and closed the door behind him. He shot up, tackling Kwangmin on the bed and pinning his arms against the mattress. “Next time, my tongue goes in your mouth,” he said, leaning forward and kissing him. “Let’s go eat before they come in.”

In the dorm room of the campus, Junsu was sitting on the couch, flipping through television channels. Getting bored, he stood and went to the bathroom, hearing the water running. He opened the door, peeling his shirt off as arms wound around his neck. He felt Junho place kisses against his shoulder, trailing them up to his neck before he nibbled at the flesh.
“Junho, at least wait until I get my pants off before you start dripping water on me,” Junsu murmured, unfastening his pants.
“Why? You’re taking them off anyway,” Junho replied, placing his hand against his brother’s toned stomach. “So what if they get wet with a little water?”
“I didn’t bring any other clothes with me is why.”
Junho laughed, turning Junsu around and cupping his face. “We share a dorm for a reason.” He kissed Junsu, raking his teeth against the younger’s lower lip before biting down just enough to draw a little blood.
Junsu shoved Junho against the shower wall, stepping under the water raining down from the showerhead. He closed the sliding door behind him, grasping both of Junho’s hands and pulling him forward, capturing his lips in a kiss. “You know, it’s a good thing that Mom and Dad didn’t move with us when we came here to attend this university. They’d have found a way to keep us apart.”
Junho nodded, burying his face in Junsu’s neck. “We already told them that we’re gay. They found about us being together when we were still in high school.”
“It’s not our fault that they walked in on us when we were showering once.”
Junho laughed at the memory, pulling back to gaze at Junsu. “I thought Mom was going to have a stroke at what she saw us doing.”
Junsu rolled his eyes at the way his twin censored himself. “You can say what we were doing, Junho.” He looked at the elder with the straightest face possible. “We were having sex.”
“You don’t have to say it so straightforwardly like that, Su,” Junho said, shoving his hands into the back pockets of the younger’s jeans. “See, this is another reason why you need to wear pants in the shower. This and so we don’t end up making a mess of it like we usually do.”
Junsu rolled his eyes. “Stop censoring yourself! People are going to mistake you for the younger twin and me for the older one if you keep doing that.”
Junho snorted, pulling the younger’s hips forward until they were touching his own. “It’s not like it would make much of a difference if people did that. We’d still be the same age.”
Smirking, Junsu pressed his lips to Junho’s ear, his breath tickling him when he spoke. “You shouldn’t have pulled me against you, brother dear,” he whispered, smiling at the shiver it sent down Junho’s spine. He ground his hips against this brother’s, smiling at the groan he let out. “You’ve put me in the mood by doing that.”
Junho looked at Junsu before he kissed him, nearly devouring the younger’s mouth. Junsu smiled into the kiss, laughing mentally about how easy it was to seduce Junho. He tilted his head back, closing his eyes and biting his lip at Junho dragging his teeth across his neck. “Why do we end up doing this nearly every time we shower?”
Junsu laughed, wrapping his arms around Junho’s neck. “Because we haven’t learned that we need to shower separately.” He pulled away from Junho, the elder pouting. “Finish showering. We have to write our report for our physics class.”
Junho watched as Junsu stepped out of the shower, puffing out his cheeks as the younger left the bathroom to change into dry clothes. “Shouldn’t have teased me like that, asshole,” he grumbled, grabbing the bottle of conditioner to put in his hair. “Just you wait until tonight, Su, you won’t be able to sleep. You seduce me and then leave me hanging like that. Bad younger brother.”
In his room, Junsu changed into dry clothes, shaking his head in amusement. “We need to stop doing that in the bathroom.” He grabbed his physics book and laptop, deciding he’d get started on their report and finish it with Junho after his shower. He went back to the living room, setting the items down on the table and leaning against the back of the couch, closing his eyes. He was about to doze off when the water shut off. He sat up and turned on the laptop, waiting for Junho to come out of the bathroom. It was going to be a long night for them since the paper was due the following day. Procrastination always seemed to get the better of both of them, but they always managed to stay up all night before something was due to complete it on time. It’s how things always were for them. And always would be.
