(no subject)
cmg woke me up from a nightmare last night. This is fairly rare. I sleep like a rock so I rarely remember the dreams that I have but apparently I was making noises.
I was having the same nightmare that I've had for a while now. I'm in a house with a bunch of people (the people can change) and society is crumbling outside. We're getting ready to make a run for it (to somewhere safe) but the people outside decide they are going to break their way in.
Sometimes the people outside are zombies. Sometimes they are just crazy people who are marauding around.
Some might say that I've watched 28 Days too many times, or listened to too many reports about the impact that bird flu will have once it finally jumps from animal to humans. It could also be too many viewings of An Inconvenient Truth.
But really, I think it's an awareness of how vulnerable all of this is. Our society has been basically stable since the 1930s. That's a really long time for North American culture to just keep chugging along without any major crisis's (ignoring FLQ and 9/11).
I don't know... I guess I just sorta feel like we're overdue.
