OMGGGGG IRAQ BABY!!!!!

Wow! I don't know what to say, really. To quote the pundits on StarSport, what a fairytale for Iraq.

My God. I can't remember the last time I got this excited on AFC tournament when it wasn't Indonesia playin, but I've been rooting for Iraq since Indonesia was kicked out and my oh my oh my.

When they scored, I was screaming and jumping around and such. It was as if I saw a United player scoring *g*!

I like Iraq as a team. They're adorable (THEY ARE!!) and has an easy familarity about them and they play pretty damn well good football, even if they're more defensive minded. The defense was absolutely terrific (they kicked and tackled and headed the ball away, and barring a couple moments absolutely giving the Saudi's strikers no room at all), and they were very comfortable on the ball. They were a bit wasteful in front of goal though, but at least they managed to score.

I don't really remember the names, so I'll just go by their shirt numbers. That #13 was absolutely, absolutely terrific. He has really good movement on the ball and has quite some trickeries also (though not trickery in a sense of Ronaldo's). I think he's been more influential than #10.

#24 (the defensive mid) was also great. I thought after the yellow card early in 1st half he'd be too tentative, too careful, but he just blocked and swept away Saudi's run through the midfield.

The wingers had good speed and capable to get pass their marker but the delivery were often disappointing. The cross from the corner kick for the goal was mint though :).

And the defenders were brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, they just didn't let anybody and anything got pass them. Especially #2 and #3, terrific play. Great timing for tackles (Scholesy should definitely learn to tackle like that *g*), good interceptions, great defensive work all around. The keeper was good too, he dealt well with whatever that managed to go past the back four.

I'm just, so pleased for them, you can just see how much this means to them, as a football team and as a country as a whole. I nearly fecking cried watching their celebration, after all that they've been through to see them being champion and celebrating like that is just... awesome.

There were quite a lot of supporters too in the stadium and most of them supported Iraq XD! Aside from the obvious Iraqis and Arabs, the Indonesian there were waving Iraq's flags, yelling "IRAQ!!!IRAQ!!!IRAQ!!!" XD complete with all the drums and such *g*. And it was funny when my president (that means President of Indonesia) gave the trophy to Iraq's captain, the rest of the players were so excited that they wanted to touch the trophy all at the same time, and it made the Presidential Guards and the committees a bit panicked XDXD. I thought that was quite funny *g*.

I'm still in "OMG! IRAQ!!" kind of mood, so yeah, congrats again to the Mesopotamian Lion :D! I hope this will be a great gift for their nation and make the people there happy because they deserve it. And I hope they can take lesson from this Iraq national team that they can be united despite all the differences (Syiah, Kurdi, Shiite, etc).

Good day all around. And I nearly can't believe my eyes when I saw the ad for Charity Shield's broadcast!!! Next week XDXD!!! Can't wait :D~~
