Title: Papa's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird
Canon: Weiss Kreuz
Disclaimer: These boys do not belong to me at all. They belong to Takehito Koyasu and Project Weiss.
Note: Italics denote mental speech. Time frame is just a few months before Gluhen. AU
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: No pairing yet.
Warnings: This will contain male pregnancy (Mpreg), however because of the way the plot is set up it is closer to implantation. Since the pregnancy is unplanned there will at least be the mention of abortion. I cannot say this enough. If you are Not interested in this kind of story just pass it by. It's easier for everyone that way, I promise. There may be Slash (male/male romance) at some point, but that all depends on the poll results and the way the plot develops. I am playing around a bit with some hinted background for Schwarz, Ezsett, and Rosenkrüs, as well as playing with science as it has been revealed to work in the Weiss world.
Characters: Brad Crawford, Yoji Kudou, Aya Fujimiya, Schuldig, Ken Hidaka, Omi Tsukino, Farfarello/Jei, Nagi Naoe. There may be mention of an OC named David at some point as well.
Summary: Convincing Yoji of the truth of what has happened just might be the hardest thing about this mission so far for Schuldig, but that doesn't mean he won't have fun with it anyway, as usual.
Once Schuldig was sure that Yoji was settled, and that the doctor Brad had contacted was there and checking in on the member of Weiss he was finally able to check in with Brad.
"Well?" He asked leaning against the door frame of the other man's office.
"Nagi is still working on the files, but what we have so far confirms exactly what you got out of the scientists' minds. Now, we just have to figure out how to proceed." He said without glancing up from his paperwork.
"Yoji will want to know something, and the truth is I think if we tell him just enough we can keep him here of his own free will." It was reasons like that he always told the truth. It was often easier than coming up with lies and when they went to find out on their own they simply confirmed what you had told them making them believe you even more.
"Okay, what we know is that this is connected to experiments were are quite familiar with. We don't know why they picked him yet, but maybe he does. If he remembers something you might be able to make sense of that part of it, or maybe it's in the information that Nagi will find out. We know how far along he is and we also know that he is a latent Talent, and the other father is likely either a latent or a carrier." He shrugged as he turned a page. "We will tell you everything we find out as it comes to us."
"Thanks, Brad. Oh, I do have one favor to ask." He pushed away from the door frame and waited for the other man to look up at him.
"Yes, Schuldig?" The slight look of annoyance was indeed what the other man had been after and made him grin mischievously.
"I want to be in charge of him. I think it might be better if he only deals with one of us at first. Also, it will force him to open up to me if he wants to know anything." He said the grin never leaving his face.
"Done." He said giving Schuldig a look before returning to his work.
........
The room was very dimly lit, but Schuldig could see the slight movements just a few seconds before Yoji opened his eyes. "Welcome back, Balinese."
"Where am I? What are you..." Yoji was trying to stand up, but he obviously found it difficult as he very quickly fell back onto the bed his feet never touching the ground.
"You are at our headquarters as for why that's a bit more difficult." Schuldig said with a grin as he pulled a chair over and made himself comfortable. "I know you don't know much about how talents work, but you are about to get a crash course. There are three different types of talents: active, latent and carriers. Each of these groups are pretty rare, and Talents seem to be passed through families, but no one is sure exactly how it works. Haven't you noticed there are less women with active talents? Well, they seem to be mostly carriers. Now, Ezsett didn't like how rare Talents are so they decided that they wanted to do something about it. That's it for the background part of our discussion. We just attacked a lab that seems to have been working on this little problem for the higher ups."
"What does that have to do with me?" The other man didn't sound happy, but at least he was listening.
"It seems as if you must be a latent or a carrier. Other than that I can't tell you much yet. But back to the scientists. At first, I suppose they started with basic genetic experimentation, cloning, who knows with them. The last thing Brad and I had heard of they were working on attempting to awaken those with latent powers."
"Okay, well I'm not sure I have any latent powers, but I guess if they thought I did they might it sort of makes sense. So you found me there, thanks I guess. I'm leaving now though." Schuldig found it funny that he didn't try to get out of the bed looking as if he wasn't sure he could trust his body yet.
"They did more than that. There is an interesting side effect of being a telepath. You see, there's a certain thing that happens only with pregnant women. You pick up on both the thoughts of mother and child, though when the child is very young it is a lot more vague and simple. It's definitely a unique experience." He was slightly annoyed it still wasn't any easier to explain.
"Okay?" Yoji's look of confusion was priceless.
"Yoji, I felt that with you. The only thing it could mean is that you are, for lack of a better word, pregnant." He couldn't help but laugh at the other man's shocked reaction.
"That's impossible." He shook his head still trying to stand.
"Not with the science that have at their disposal. All they would need to do is clone the DNA they wanted to use, combine it, and then implant the child into you. They are experts at cloning and manipulating DNA by now. And before you ask we do not know yet whose DNA they used along with yours, and I'm only assuming they used yours at this point. It's possible they have worked it so that they could control the Talent the child would have. And I don't care if you believe me. You'll see for yourself in a few weeks, maybe less." It all depended on what symptoms Yoji had, if any.
"But if I only have a latent power, even if the other father had an active power wouldn't the child end up with one or the other? And why put it in me, I mean wouldn't there be a woman willing to carry it? Wouldn't that be easier than trying to control me, or keep me out of commission the whole pregnancy?"
"Not necessarily. It's like any other recessive/dominant combination so each family line could have any number of possible powers they could manipulate to get what they wanted. I'm guessing that they wanted to see if they could do it, or perfect the process. And maybe they thought it was worth it, maybe there is more to it than just one child. Who knows why they would care about the process of making a male able to carry a child, but they have done stranger things with even less reason." He didn't really care about evaluating what the scientists were up to. Most of the time he and Brad just sought to undo their work, well when their work that had to do with the members of Schwarz.
"So what now? If you are telling the truth, and I'm not sure you are, I can't go back to the flower shop."
"I am telling the truth, and you are correct you can't." He leaned forward. "I would mention that we can get rid of the child, but the doctor who visited earlier said it would likely be too dangerous since they would have to come up with a different procedure for you." It was as close to a lie as he would get. No, the doctor hadn't said it, but they had thought something along those lines and he always used what information he could no matter where it came from. He was curious about the child and he wanted the option dismissed. It was safe to assume he wasn't the only one and he fully expected Brad would approve.
"You're right. I mean I'm not sure I would want to anyway." He watched Yoji sit up carefully and glance over to him. "How are we going to get the child out?" Schuldig could tell the other man still didn't quite believe him, but he would soon enough.
"A C-section of course. The doctor is already working on how to do it safely." He stood up. "You should rest. Nagi is getting the information as quickly as he can so we will have a few more answers for you after you wake up."
Yoji didn't look happy, but he nodded. "Actually before that I could use something to eat."
"Fine I will arrange food to be brought up. You'll be on medication from now on to ensure your body doesn't reject the baby." It was lucky that he had gotten all of that from the men before he killed them and they didn't need to wait on Nagi to find out the particulars.
Once Yoji had the food he had requested Schuldig left the room making sure to send Brad what he needed to know from the conversation.
"We've found out something I think you'll find interesting. It seems as if the other father is Fujimiya. We also know they had another file on Yoji which Nagi is having a harder time breaking into. It seems to be connected with a third file that we know nothing about at this point. They may have been planning this for a while."
Schuldig grinned laughing slightly. It figured. "Should we tell him all of that yet?"
"Yes. If he knows he'll be in danger without us he won't be tempted to be stupid and try to leave. You may think you have convinced him, but we can't be sure. I like guarantees." Brad's mental voice made it very clear he was in business mode, which normally Schuldig would have fun with, but for now he was focused on what they were going to do with Yoji. Fun could wait until later.
"We need to also convince him that if the child does have a Talent we are the only ones who can help them control it. I don't think we should tell him about Fujimiya yet. He'll want to contact them then so we should hold off as long as we can." Yoji would be harder to manipulate than one of the others, but he knew that there were buttons that worked for every human and was well aware of how to push all of them, in fact he took great relish in it. This time would be no different. He smirked walking down the hall looking forward to the next few months.

Nursery Rhyme explanation: Okay, for some reason when I was thinking about which ones to use this one screamed Aya to me. There's a sense of pessimism to it that suites him and yet there is also a tinge of hope that somehow works with the way he looked after and protected his sister somehow believing despite everything that she would come back.
