No.6 Anime Review

It'd be hard for me to review the No.6 anime as a standalone series. I'm invested enough in the novels that my mind automatically recalls all the corresponding scenes from the books when I watch the anime, so I can't help but compare the two. And so I'm not going to try to review this as a standalone series, I'll be judging it as an adaptation. ( Read more... )

Hello, been stalking for a while ♥

I didn't think the anime will end up being really good from the beginning. I got to read some translated chapters from the novel and decided the anime definitely won't end up good. Call me a sceptic.

I think its main priority ended up being fangirl bait. I mean, the novel has plenty of (arguably)ambigious BL, but the anime seemed to focus on Nez and Sion's beauuuuuutiful relationship and butcher up the pretty details of the novel and the plot. And then at one point it's like everyone thought 'pfff, what plot' and then the final episode.... wat. I didn't read a summary (yours) of the novel's ending until after watching the episode, so of course all i could do was lol like mad for 20 minutes but really. It peeves me that they didn't even try at one point, if ever.

I think the manga might end up being more faithful to the novel. If only it wasn't so shoujo. It seems to me like novel Sion is never going to see the light of day. It's just my personal view but he really seems like a very interesting character, and the anime made him... different. The manga takes on the anime version and adds even more sparkes, IMO.

Oh god, I ended up with useless ranting... excuse me, I'll put a full stop here.
