A remarkable set of rackets from
Brierly Hill 90210 this time. Or perhaps last time. I have a fully asychronous lifestyle and my media consumption begins to remind me of writing code for a message-passing OS.
(I really must have a play with Dragonfly BSD)
Particularly splendid is Puppy Bucket and Donny Choonara. Since I've never been able to say (or write) the phrase 'Angry young Cheltenham' with a straight face, though that may change with the release of 'Straight outta Whaddon', thankfully this lot are the sound of monged out young Cheltenham having a beer and a laugh. The rest of the
Elbandito Records output is also worth a listen.
Those of you with long memories for UPG foolishness will remember Spray's 'I am gothic'. The less said about my own part in that, the better. The various bits of Spray have myspace accounts (in common with synth-prodder and guitar-botherers planet-wide) and Mr. Ricardo Autobahn's 'Maniac in a Saab' (presumably a classic-shape 900, given the heroic monosynth and general AmigaDemo-ness) is rather fine.
The Wolf:Gang Diesel rightly commorate an internal combustion pioneer and staple sound-effect for all multi-wheeled Gerry Anderson heavy plant. They sound like... Well, you can go along and d/load the MP3s yourselves. 'Crime of the century' is as good a place as any to start. However, one minute they manage to sound like an intransigently post-punk Godfathers fronted by Noddy Holder, then it all goes a bit Parliament. Had I time-machine shaped like a Ford Transit, I'd put them on before Earth Loop Recall at the Dublin Castle.
(I haven't bothered with links to the MySpace sites because every damn time I go to one of those sodding pages the effing music-player kicks off and you end up with several going at once which drowns out whatever Winamp was doing at the time. Although there's an obvious piece of tape-loop/performance art right there. JFGI.)
