of cars and tucks

messed up my car last night in the snow... while this is very stressful, as I cannot drive it at the moment, I've basically been waiting for it to give up the ghost so I can get a new one with no reservations. I avoided expensive fixits because they weren't strictly necessary, and I was unwilling to pour more money into my car. However, both the registration and inspection are due to be renewed, so at the end of this month I would either have to do that or get a new car. This accident is probably the shove I've needed; I have crazy skills when it comes to waffling about doing things! If it were a useful skill you'd wish you had my proficiency at it. I'm dreading car-shopping like WHOA. Totally can't afford a new car, so that means test-driving and mechanic-approving and all the other stuff involved with buying a used car.  Words cannot express how much I am dreading it.

Working on handsewing tucks on my HSF project (not going to name it till it's due), but the last tuck (not planned initially, so the project was 90% done before I decided it needed another tuck) got uneven somewhere between marking and sewing, so I'll have to redo it to make it higher. Grr! In one place it seems that a previous tuck was a bit high, however, so if I redo *that* tuck it will solve both problems at once. So I basically have to redo a tuck and a half, rather than two.  Yay?  I'm positive that if I'd machine sewn these they'd be a lot more even, but I'm determined to not even let my project exchange pleasantries with my machine, let alone become familiar with it. Tomorrow I will redo the tucks and sew on some lace, and then my project will be (should be!) done.
