Nothing Intelligent about Intelligent Design.

I was reading one of many numerous articles I have read about the supposed battle between Evolution and Intelligent Design (which is basically repackaged Creationism). This quote from Billy Graham's daughter really got me riled:

Some people's egos need stroking. It feels good to think that you have a purpose. It appeals to the emotional, not logical. Thus part of the reason why it gets support from people who are not necarily fundies.

Purpose is a good thing, goals are a good thing. I just have a problem when that purpose becomes Divine in nature.

What is so wrong with divine purpose? It is a great deal like many other purposes. It wouldn't be there if it wasn't created by you but sometimes it can be a much better motivator. Someone always beleives in you whether the real world people do or not. Well, I suppose in this context it wouldn't be so shiny. But in general I don't have major problems with it. Probably because I was somewhat religous.
