Want some background info on Master Eraqus? His profile's below for you to peruse:

Character Name: Master Eraqus
Series: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown, likely in his late 50s-early 60s

Species: Human

Appearance: Eraqus looks to be of Asian descent, with black hair tied up in a topknot, and a long piece of hair hanging down over the right side of his face. He also bears a well-trimmed mustache and short goatee. His hair is black, but graying just a bit with his age. Two large, jagged scars cross his face…one over his right eye, and one across his left cheek.

While being older, he is still well-built,; average height but muscled enough to handle physical combat well. He wears the armor-based shoes similar to what Aqua and Terra wear, and blue and gray armor across his chest and middle. Over the armor he wears beige "hakama" pants, and a long white robe with a hood, trimmed with maroon edges.

Eraqus can summon armor for protection while fighting, or for traveling from world to world. His armor looks similar to the heavy layered armor that Terra, Aqua and Ven wear, but is even more elaborate and more resembles a samurai suit of armor. His armor is colored white and gold, with some blue and green on his chest and middle.

Personality: Eraqus is very much of the "Lawful Good" persuasion. He believes very strongly in the power of light and order, and believes darkness is something to be avoided, controlled or outright destroyed. He sees all forms of darkness as harmful to the good of the world, and therefore as something that should be eradicated. Eraqus cannot grasp the idea of using darkness for peoples' benefit...to him, just having darkness is dangerous enough. He has little tolerance for those with evil agendas...if he can't dissuade them to turn to good with reason, he is not afraid to use brute force, and he is very good at using force.

Eraqus is very focused on the greater good; on the welfare of the universe as a whole. He considers the needs of many before his own needs, and sometimes to the detriment of his own self. He is completely willing to sacrifice things he holds very dear for the greater good...even the people he loves most of all. Doing this pains him immensely, but he'll still do it if he believes he must.

Despite his gruff and stern exterior, and his intolerance for all things darkness-related, Eraqus is kind and is fiercely protective of his apprentices. He loves his students as if they were his own children, caring for them and wanting them to succeed in their Keyblade training. He wants desperately for Terra to achieve his Mark of Mastery, considering him to be like his own son, but is afraid of the darkness within him. He puts a lot of faith in his students. In general, he is quite trusting of others. Even though he is outspoken about his hatred of darkness in others, he is forgiving and willing to give friends a second chance.

History: Little is known about Eraqus's childhood and most of his adult life. He has spent most of his life in the Land of Departure, and was friends with Yen Sid since they were young. He trained as a Keybearer under the same master as Xehanort, his friend and fellow student. Their master chose Eraqus as his successor, seeing more darkness in Xehanort. Eraqus and Xehanort had their differences, with Eraqus focusing on light and Xehanort insisting that more darkness was needed to maintain balance in the universe. This culminated in an argument between them, in which Xehanort revealed his desire to create the X-blade, a weapon that would begin a new Keyblade War and bring about the apocalypse. The two came to blows over it, and Xehanort used darkness against Eraqus, leaving him with two permanent scars across his face. Shortly after this, Eraqus took on two apprentices of his own: Terra and Aqua. He began training them from a young age, raising them to be Keyblade Masters themselves.

Despite the fact that he and Xehanort parted on bad terms, Eraqus was willing to believe that Xehanort had taken a turn for the better years down the line, and accepted a third student into his home: Ventus. Ven was originally Xehanort's pupil, but after a certain "training mishap" (wherein Xehanort tortured Ven with Heartless, then stripped him of the darkness in his heart and used it to create Vanitas) Xehanort instead passed him on to Eraqus. Eraqus agreed to take him in and train him, even though first this required many months of recovery on Ven's part. While Eraqus had his suspicions about Xehanort using Ven as a means to create the X-blade, he still raised Ven for four years and gave him the same love and attention that he gave his other students.

Four years after taking Ven in, Eraqus elected to hold the Mark of Mastery exam for Terra and Aqua, to determine if they were eligible to be Keyblade Masters themselves. Eraqus invited Xehanort to the ceremony, and Xehanort accepted the invitation gratefully, although also included a note saying that he was worried about the darkness in Terra. This mention fueled Eraqus's underlying worries about Terra...that there was darkness hidden in his heart, and that he would use its power before long. Knowing how darkness had caused Xehanort to turn against him, he did not want to see the same happen with Terra, whom he loved like a son.

The Mark of Mastery ceremony was held, wherein Eraqus and Xehanort watched Terra and Aqua perform. Xehanort messed with some of the test, but Terra and Aqua still prevailed. The two Masters deliberated, and finally determined that only Aqua had earned her Mark of Mastery. It seems that Xehanort influenced Eraqus's decision about Terra, since Eraqus tells Terra that he would "name him Master in a second" if he could. Eraqus was upset that he could not make Terra a Master, but was obviously still worried about the darkness in his heart. Since Aqua had become a Keyblade Master, Eraqus passed on essential knowledge to her...in particular, the fact that she had the ability to transform the Land of Departure into Castle Oblivion should he die and the land ever be attacked by darkness.

Soon after the ceremony's end, Eraqus received a message from his old friend, Yen Sid, a former Keyblade Master: creatures called Unversed were invading the worlds and spreading darkness, putting the Princesses of Heart and many others in danger. Eraqus sent out Terra and Aqua to take care of the Unversed and protect the worlds. He told Terra that this was a second chance for him...a chance to prove that he was worthy to be a Keyblade Master. He also told Aqua to keep and eye on Terra, and to bring him back if the darkness in him ever became too great for him to handle.

However, as Terra was leaving the world, Ven went and followed him. Afraid that Ven would learn something of his past with Xehanort or his potential to become the X-blade, Eraqus instructed Aqua to bring Ven back home. Aqua left, and Eraqus remained in the Land of Departure, worrying after his students and wondering about Xehanort's involvement in this sudden spread of darkness. Eraqus was still awaiting his students' return when he was suddenly taken to an entirely different world...

Supernatural Abilities: Like all Keyblade Masters, Eraqus has the ability to summon his Keyblade and use it for a variety of magical tasks...he can cast any sort of offensive, defensive or healing magic with it, and can transform it into a glider for use in world travel. His Keyblade can also be used to unlock or lock any kind of lock, magical or not, and can even be used to lock/unlock whole worlds. Most of his magic is based around light attacks. Like all Keyblades, he can summon it from thin air or dismiss it whenever he wants.

His most powerful attacks involve light attacks, in particular summoning blades of light to shoot out and strike opponents,. He can also summon spheres of light energy to act as projectiles, can summon chains of light to bind an enemy, and can protect himself in a shield of light. His secondary magical affinity is fire, and he can summon columns of fire to scorch foes. While this is what he uses the most often, he can use all the same abilities that his students can...including fire, blizzard, thunder, cure and wind spells, mine spells, and fast attacks while wrapping the Keyblade in any of the above elements.

Supernatural Weaknesses: Eraqus can still summon his Keyblade in Chicago, but it takes more effort and thought to summon it, and the summoning is not instantaneous. It is liable to disappear on him without his dismissing it if he keeps using it for too long. He can still cast magic, but only one to three spells a day before he exhausts it and the Keyblade disappears. His spells will be at their weakest strength. He cannot cast his more powerful magic, such as his shield of light or light orbs. He can open simple locks, but nothing like a magic-based lock. He can still summon his Keyblade armor and glider, but cannot maintain them for more than an hour at best, making them useless for long journeys.

Natural Abilities: Aside from his affinity in magic attacks, Eraqus has years of training and experience in sword combat. He is also very fast, and able to execute quick combos and counterattacks. While he is obviously at a great disadvantage without the Keyblade, in general he has a lot of speed, stamina and patience...especially for someone of his age.

Possessions: Aside from his Keyblade, which he pulls from dimensional space, Eraqus has no personal possessions.
