Hey
Had a blast, made my maiden trip to NYC and LI by myself with one ticket for proof. Saw my aunt and uncle who never want to see me or my family b/c my dad's side of the family is evasive. Somehow they all had a fucked up time growing up so they never want to see each other and when they do, at like our bat mitzvahs, they argue or whatever, tender ties. Well after thanksgiving of I think 2 yrs ago (2004) my goy uncle decided he really liked me (to talk to-nothing perverted--geez!). Well so when they called on my birthday on Saturday they said they talked about me all the time. So I was like "Well, how about I come and visit you?" So sure enough they got their acts together and we made plans for today. Awesome trip down, one ticket from a a police stop (officer was like "You saw me in the center of the road and you kept going, wtf?" or somehting along those lines). Whatever, show the ticket and new registration and they let me off, ticket dropped. No big deal. It was weird that the guy called me by my first name when he came back to give me the ticket. Like um, how come every other officer I spoke to calls me "ma'am" and you are on a first name basis? I guess it was to be less intimidating. Whatev. Really didn't disturb me, it wasn't my first ticket, hell I've had a traffic violation (which was dropped to a parking ticket). Accidently tossed my registration papers in the garbage when my parents were rushing me to pack when I was packign to go home at the end of the semester. It's my fault for not keeping a better eye on them. Fuck. Whatever, I'll go to the DMV tomorrow and pay for new papers, no biggy.
Visit with the family was stinking awesome. We went to a garden/museum place, walked around the trail, saw some huge trees and orchids and dogwood trees and handkerchief trees and a lot of other plants whose names I can't recall. Apparently they are really into plants, I was introduced to their garden at home (whcih they planted themselves) as well as the feral cats who they've never pet but have been feeding for 7 years. Mom and her two kids, how cute. OMG their house looked liek my house and they said that their house influenced my parents' choice. I loved it. I loved hearing stories from back in the 80's and when they first got married and their trips and just how great it is to be a "single" (my quotes) couple without kids. They truely are just a bunch of 50 year old college kids. They travel all over, are so busy, and finally are settling down now that they sold the bakery. Lunch was sooo good too. Fruit salad and turkey sandwiches and root beer, so yummy. We had a picnic in the park and it was funny because we had to kind of dodge the staff, so we went to a secluded bench in the woods, sat down on one side, with the picnic spread on the other side, actual picnic basket too! I felt so relaxed, like nothing could go wrong, when I was with them today. I felt totally cool and confident when they asked "how's school? you graduate next year? Oh don't worry, we didn't graduate in 4 years (uncle rob did 6 yrs b/c he loved it so much). We all decided small schools in teh country rule (uncle rob also went to school near the finger lakes). It was a stinking blast, I wasn't afraid of the future when I was with them. Never once felt depressed. I guess because of the new environmnet (only visited the place once when I was eight I think) and faces I hardly know (hardly ever see them thanks to dad's sibling conflict with my aunt) and just how COOL and RELAXED and MOTIVATED and DIFFERENT they are. I told them, after we went over a detailed plan on how I was driving home (Aunt Lois thought it was a little much but I appreciated it profusely) I told them "Love you!" and they said "Thank you!" I really meant it. I ALWAYS thought they were two of the coolest relatives ever (what compared to my mom's neurotic side who I have to see at every wedding b'nai mitzvot, etc.). So sane, so freindly, so me! We want to get together to see the belmont stakes, unfortunately they have a wedding that day. Well, maybe another belmont race, they always wanted to visit the track (me too!). Afterwards when I got home, I slept alot, that's all I really do nowadays. People think I'm depressed I again, I don't feel depressed, just tired and apathetic about the future. What gives. Gotta do my incompletes for all my classes. FUCK. Whatev.
