New Guy No. 1
Okay so this guy is one of the main xters at The Scandal Rag. He's one of the reporters. He’s actually one of my favourite new xters, but I have a sneaking suspiscion that he might just be the kind of character that only I like and everyone else hates! Cos, he’s kind of twisted…
Okay, so here goes… This guy keeps his emotional distance from EVERYONE but at the same time has a lot of surface charm and uses it to his advantage. He’s very smooth and everyone thinks he’s a great guy, if sometimes a little vague. Actually he’s sharp as a razor and cultivates this image deliberately. At work he makes out like he’s a team player by saying all the right things, but actually he’s 100% out for himself and doesn’t give a damn. Outside of work he has quite the playboy lifestyle but he keeps his private life very private and doesn’t let the two areas meet. Every aspect of his life he lives purely for his own ends -selfishly and hedonistically. He feels no sense of duty of loyalty whatsoever. He has a doting mother who is blind to his faults despite the fact he only visits her once in a blue moon. In contrast his maternal grandmother says he’s a despicable person. He respects his grandmother for seeing the real him. Mostly he feels like a shark swimming in a pond full of goldfish, drifting through life lazy and disinterested and like some cold-blooded creature, occasionaly cruel.
He sees it as in his own interest to project a nice image to others as this way they are easier to manipulate and he gets what he wants. He mostly sees others as lesser beings. He has a filing cabinet and he’s the only item in the top drawer. He’s vain, hones his body in the gym religiously and uses lots of styling products. The women in the office all adore him and think he’s wonderful. He has a three month rule and always dumps his partners before that time is up. Life is just too short and no-one is interesting enough to keep around after then anyway. He mostly hooks up with dates at bars and picks them by their looks - (he’s gay).
Because he gets easily bored he tells lots of lies - some pointless just to amuse himself at the expense of others. One such is that he is a non-smoker when actually he has smoked since the age of 16. Deceit just seems to come naturally to him. He’s a reporter and covers a lot of the scandal type storylines as he doesn’t have any scruples and quite likes working on stories that show up humanity’s flaws.
