i stole candy today, from those bins in larry's market. the guy sorta flipped out and i feel kinda bad about it. i think i ought to appologize. the guy seemed like the type that wouldn't really accept one though. its really a small crime, a kid thing to do, you know? anyway, i'd like to do something to make it better, pay it forward and such.-kyle

My .02.
EDIT: Going and talking to the guy seems like it is only going to create more problems though, but I will commend you on your "repentence" (I hate that word).

as you say "survival of the fittest" if they can't defend their own goods why should they get to keep them anyway?

If stealing was a matter of survival for me, would I steal? Probably, but that doesnt make it right.

what if the stakes are even higher? say you have to support your other siblings as well? now its not just your survival, then does it become right?

There. Under no circumstances is stealing right, but that doesnt mean its not the best course of action. And your little 'what if' scenarios are retarded. Kyle is not, nor am I starving because of lack of food.

My what if scenes are not meant to relate to us. i am trying to show that nothing is universal. to say something always is, just seems naive.
And you did not answer my question, if you were to always do right in your life would you sacrifice your own survival for what is "right" or would what is "right" change under the circumstance? you seem to be able to justify the action, in many minds that would make it right.
As Sartre once said "A human being will always do what he feels is right in that moment"
is doing the "right" thing what we look back on in hindsight?
if by stealing that food did we change some course of events that made things turn out great for everyone? was it then the right decision?
What i am trying to say is that, things like right and wrong in the matter of actions like stealing or other "moral" issues are relative and should not be stated as always will be one or the other.

Let me say it again, hell I will even bold it since you didnt see it the first 2 times: stealing from someone else is under no circumstances right.
Sarte was an idiot, I will improve it: "A human being will always do what he thinks is in his best interest, or the interest of his love ones". Just because it is in his best interest does not make it right.
Stealing is not relative, it is always wrong.

brian you have no argument your just repeating the same dumbass statements over and over again with no supporting statements.
so until you can attempt to have a real thought, maybe you should just shut the fuck up.

And thats not what you are doing..?

What, real thought; as in "Its completely legitimate and right to take from others, as long as I need it more"?
Your philosophy has been tried, its the 'great experiment of the 20th century', and it failed utterly. Maybe you should reform?
