So my first day of New Garden Friends Upper School was today. I think I'm really going to like it there. Everything's just so chill, and everyone's been really nice to me. I have two periods with a 10th grader named Trina who is incredibly sweet. She just compliments me at every turn. I don't think she's a sycophant, but she's very eager to be liked. And a girl named Katherine Glover who's parents knew mine is in my 4th period and already someone I joke with. In 2nd period math, Noah (yes, folks, Noah Moss) went wild over my hair and gave me a hug, and I talked a fair amount to this guy Bobby who tapped my back on my way out of school. Tomorrow's another day of classes, then Friday's lots of get to know you and sign up stuff. But I already feel quite natural there. I did 8 years of Catholic school and 4 of public. Both seemed to scar me for life. But this place seems...fantastic. I hope the sense of belonging stays.
