THREE!

I promise to finish this one.

And thank you all again for the lovely reviews. It makes me glad to know that people are actually reading this.

Feel free to ask questions at will.

Three--Super Computers

Shadow gazed at the pure turquoise waters. Tides rippled and crashed on the sand, caressing his legs and feet. They then slunk back into the sea, only to come back for another kiss.

Riku was nearby. The two didn't speak to each other. They merely watched the sea, each with their own thoughts on their minds.

"So," Riku said, breaking the trance they were both relaxing in, "tell me more about this 'Rouge' you speak so much of."

Shadow sighed. "More on Rouge? What, are you taking a romantic interest in her or something?"

The lither scoffed. "Yeah. I dig slutty bats like I dig six foot holes."

He closed his eyes, deep in thought. Rouge wasn't a very interesting person, or at least to him. "Well... I suppose she's a friend. She lets me crash at her place when I really need it. She also has a crush on my rival's friend." Shadow opened his eyes. "Don't tell her I told you that," he warned.

"Scout's honor," Riku chimed. "So.. What's his--or her--name?"

"Rouge isn't a lesbian," Shadow said, glaring at Riku. "And his name is Knuckles."

Riku nodded in acknowledgement. Her misty purple eyes were half closed in her usual manner, the thin sunglasses resting on her cheeks to protect her eyes from the sun. Shadow sighed and gazed out at the sea.

"You have any friends?" he asked.

Riku nodded. "His name is Zyx."

"Boyfriend?" Shadow inquired.

Riku said nothing for a while. Then she began to laugh and punched Shadow lightly in the shoulder. "Only if you date your own kin," she chuckled. "He's my brother. I haven't seen him in a while." The feline stopped. "Do you have any relatives?"

Shadow glanced at the sun distantly. It took him several moments before he came up with a rely. "Sort of."

"Who are they?"

"Well," Shadow began, "it's a long stor--wait. Why am I telling you this?"

"Because," the cat chided, "that's what friends do. They tell each other stuff."

Shadow exhaled deeply. "Well... OK, fine. But you have to tell me something when you're through."

And so the talk of the past began. Riku's inquiries kept the story going for quite a while. Eventually, Shadow found himself talking about Black Doom, ARK, the adventures he had with his brethren and even the stresses of co-owning a night club. As he told the stories, he would gesture, and Riku made remarks on aspects of the story. Finally, when all to be told was told, Riku began her story.

"OK," Riku said, the shroud of enigma surrounding her beginning to dissolve, "would you believe me if I told you I was from another world?"

Shadow scoffed. "Very funny. No Mobian comes from another world. Mobius is all there ever was."

Riku glanced at the sand. "Yeah.. I guess you're right.." She smiled weakly. "Forget I ever said that."

Shadow smiled, then glanced at the sky. "Hey! The moon is full!" He pointed to the face of Tor, her smiling face giving the night sky a luminous glare.

Riku gazed at the moon, eyes welling with tears. "Yeah... The moon..."

The shaded hedgehog turned to the cat, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't cry. It's weakness. Weakness is bad."

The feline nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes. "No more sorrow, no more pain. I will not cry for what has passed."

Shadow returned the nod for reassurance. He turned back to the moon, returning his hand to the sand.

And once again, tranquility took the two in its soothing arms.

The door to the fox-shaped house swung open as Tails let in his best friend and hero.

"Sonic!" the two-tailed fox said cheerfully. "You made it!"

Sonic grinned walked inside, removing his shoes. "Wouldn't miss it unless Shadow blew up a building and G.U.N. captured me instead."

Tails laughed. Sonic always said that. "The machine's downstairs. I'll be down there to reveal it in a while."

Sonic bobbed his head and went over to the stairs. He went into the rather comfortable basement. There, plopped on a blue love seat, was a certain red echidna.

"Yo, Knux," Sonic said with a wave while taking his seat in a matching armchair.

"You're late," came a sharp retort.

"Sheesh," Sonic growled. "Have patience. I had to deal with a thief."

Knuckles glared at Sonic, violet eyes raging. "You stopped a thief without calling us?!"

"No time," Sonic explained. "He was on a hover board--"

"It was Jet, wasn't it?"

"Actually, no."

Knuckles opened his mouth to say something, but he was interrupted by Tails' entry.

"I see you two are saying your hellos," the fox chirped. He walked to the center of the room and grasped a rather large burlap cloth, which neither had noticed until now. "Now without further ado," Tails announced, "may I present the fruits of hard labor!"

Tails removed a cloth to see a rather large computer set. Several screens showed data, images, and other miscellaneous items. The large screen in the center had a map of Emerald Town.

Tails' companions started for awhile.

"Umm," Knuckles finally said, "what exactly is it?"

Tails groaned. "Neither of you know what it is?!" The silence gave him his answer. "It's a super computer, for crying out loud!"

"Oh," his friends said in unison.

"So what does it do?" Sonic questioned.

Tails opened his mouth to explain, then stopped. "I'll show you!" He went over to the computer and pushed a few buttons. A tiny red box came over a certain area on the main screen. The screen zoomed in on that spot. It revealed an image of Tails' house and exact coordinates of the house.

Though neither knew exactly what happened, both Sonic and Knuckles were interested. They stood up and went over to Tails' side, glancing over his shoulders.

"And with this," Tails said matter-of-factly, "I can find information on anyone and anything!"

"Really?" Knuckles said in awe. "Show me!"

Tails grinned and entered 'EGGMAN' on the screen. Indeed, an image of Eggman popped up, along with numerous other files on him. "I even found his exact weight!"

Sonic laughed. "Really?"

Tails nodded. "It'll take a while to find it again, though..."

Sonic groaned in disappointment.

Knuckles glanced at the computer. "Can you find items on that thing?"

Tails nodded and typed in 'CHAOS EMERALD'. Just as before, a picture of the Chaos Emeralds popped up.

Sonic glanced at the keyboard. "Tails.. Can you look someone up for me?"

Tails glanced at Sonic, prepared to do anything for his idol. "Yeah. What'cha want?"

Sonic closed his eyes. "Queen Aleena."

Tails' eyes widened slightly at this request. However, he would not question Sonic's request. He bit his lips and squinted as he went back to the keyboard. The computer held true--a painting of a beautiful purple hedgehog appeared.

Sonic glanced around the brief report. His eyes stopped when they reached the 'Location' section of the profile.

Last seen in Night Babylon, Club Rouge.

Sonic froze.

"Tails?"

"Yeah?" The fox said warily.

"Hope you don't mind casinos," Sonic said slowly, "because Night Babylon's our next destination.

MORE twists... Hmm... I can't seem to stick to a plot X3.

I hope you loved. This one wasn't as good as the last one, but it was pretty good.

Review please--but like I have to ask that X3. I love all that reviewed. I give you all digital cookies.

Now if only people on Anime Spiral would review like you guys...

Eh, nevermind.

I shall now go eat ice cream.

old writing, the hero's rise, sonic the hedgehog, draft, don't bother with critique
