I definitely liked it better than last week's, and I think overall I really did enjoy watching it, but it had some massive problems.

although I will agree that they fudged on making it science. They just had the Doctor SAY it was science. - Mm, exactly. Though, with this episode, I could almost overlook all that in hindsight of how much I did enjoy watching it, which is something I wasn't even close to saying last week. So yay for improvements!

Yeah, I see that she's supposed to be more intellectual and the fans are squeeing over how smart she is and then...Freema is so *bouncy* and chipper and (eek!) lightweight. - Yes! I love the bouncy and chipper, and I love the intellectual...but they don't go together. They've got a nice, infectious actress and a good, strong role, but they haven't put the right person in for the job, as far as I can see. Probably because RTD etc had more of a say in who was cast this time round, as they picked her up from AoG, rather than doing the normal casting process. I don't know if anyone else was even considered for the role - and Martha's intended character does ring closer to Freema's performance of Adeola, to me, than the bounceyness she's given her bigger character.

Good point. She probably would fit better playing a more Rose-like character, to be honest.

You know what I found interesting? The Doctor was SO less...seductive, for want of a better word, this week. Last week, his lure was so played up in order to drag Martha into the story. He was deliberately tantalizing her with the possibilities because he wanted someone to come with. Now? He's back to a more normal aspect, completely oblivious to her as she gazes at him on the bed.

This show...I can complain about things that I don't like, but in the end, I am always entertained. And I'm always looking forward to Saturday night. YAY, Doctor Who!
