If anyone has an account with Linode, I'm about to get some hosting with them, and if you give me your referral code you'll get $20 off your bill once I've stuck around for three months. First post wins, obviously.
I'm after hosting in whichever country has reasonable speeds and the least laws =D Offshore oil rig or somewhere in orbit would be ideal. Failing that, somewhere in the US is probably most appropriate.
Sorry for lack of tagging :) I don't tend to tag in such open contexts. On my delicious account I can consciously maintain a controlled taxonomy, but here I find it much harder to categorise now and future entries. Anyway, it's all Googleable, which is more than enough, unlike some people whose posts I keep needing to trawl through for useful answers.
Linode's fucking great. Haven't had any problems, and couldn't be happier with the looseness of the agreement (could op-out mid month, etc.) and what I'm getting for it. The only downside is the unavoidable fact that there's about 0.4s latency thanks to that fucking slug of a constraint, the speed of light. But their online interfaces and the agility with which you can rearrange all your shit can't be beat.

You can't fight economies of scale, man...
What can you offer for $20/mo?

Turns out it was easy to find by just going through your entries.
How's Linode been treating you? I'm tempted to sign up with them.
