My Feelings about the Russia-Ukraine conflict..

Hello everyone,
Over the past few weeks I've been watching and reading the news about the terrible conflict in Ukraine, which is now amplified with the invasion of Russian forces into Ukraine. My overall feelings are those of total outrage. The Ukrainian people are sick of poverty, sick of not being able to compete globally. They want different lives and they know that their only way of improvement is not through nostalgia of the Soviet times, but instead through allying with the West. I think that if the Ukrainians want to ally with the West, let them. History has shown time and time again in nation after nation that practiced this form of government that it does not serve the people well at all. Instead of a prosperous people, there are only the few prosperous dictator leaders that benefit from the dictatorship. Of course I am also saddened by this conflict because I personally, because I'm a US citizen, do not want to automatically be seen as the enemy by my Russian friends. After all, Russia has been for quite some time on my list of places to visit before I die. I took one year of Russian language in order to learn a bit about its language and Slavic cultural roots, and because I am half Slavic myself, it was a fascinating heritage lesson for me. I don't want to see Russia as an enemy. I'm angry and I'm sad-but most of all, I'm praying for a much better outcome than what I am foreseeing.
