A Favorite Scene from The Christmas Story..ohhh, "fu--dge" :) :)
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well. As most of you know around this time of year as part of tradition I watch the 1982 Christmas classic "A Christmas Story". And for the past couple of years around this time I've posted some of my favorite scenes. Well this year is no different, here is yet another one of my favorite scenes, the one where Ralphie drops the F-word in front of his father. It makes me remember the couple of times as a child I let that dreaded F-word drop from my mouth, and within the split second afterward the feeling of terror as to not knowing exactly what my father had in store for my punishment! Back in those days some of our parents literally put the "fear of God" into us after we did something wrong. I know my father would get this very scary and angry look on his face if my brother or I as kids cursed or continued wrongdoing after father warned us a couple of times. Ahh, the lesson of the principle of "consequences" for wrongdoing. A scary but useful one because as I've gotten older I realized that it is far better to be punished by the ones you love only because they're looking out for you, rather than be punished by a cruel and uncompassionate world!
